Hey guys this is my first post, as the title says i am a toyota virgin, never owned any since having a licence, i have been a nissan boy all the way having several vl turbos (still have 2 atm), nissan fairlady Z twin turbo back in the days and even a nissan pulsar ET turbo which went pretty good with a few basic mods.
The main reason why i have always loved vl's is the ease of which it is to get serious hp from them with smart and moderate mods and being the mid ninties when i got my licence there wasnt much else in the performance cars department unless you had cash and being on my p plates cash was scarce.

i am in the market for a prestige and perfomance car, must be a jap import as they are the best bang for your buck, and have always admired the mighty 2JZ, so the aristo fits perfectly in my plans.

I have only looked at and test drove one atm, and was impressed with the all round package, i want to ask how does one know what options they have from factory, ie LSD, air purifiers, cruise, traction control etc, are there id tags that display code options from factory, and what are the standard options?

ive been searching and found lots of useful info but as i am scheduled to look at a few more in the next few days and a quick response would be appreciated, and what are peoples experience when buying a fresh import, how legit is the miliage on these, they all seem low but are they genuine?

From memory its A01B on the chassis plate for LSD, A01A for gayness.

Most cars seem to be around the 100k mark, and with luck, the 100k service is done already, as it's a pain in the ass.

Um, options.......

Leather, air puri, LSD, late model gen 2's have twin air bags.......

Pain in the ass, please explain. I'm looking at one tomorrow with 62k
on the clock, I would imagine the 100k service would of been done by
due to it's age, from memory my fairlady had it's 100k done at around 90k
because of it's age and the japs stick a tag on the cam covers with date
mileage of service, is the common practice?

It's just a bit of a pain, water pump is annoying. If its been done in japan then ya, look on the cam cover, or on the radiator reo. Also, if you start it up and theres a little smoke, don't let it put you off too much. It's probably just cam seals, which go hard with the age, but unlikely to be the turbos.

Ball joints were a factory recall item on the earlier models, but only half got done.
(by this, I mean front lower ball joints.)
This used to be a huge pita, but now you can pick them up cheap from the US so it's not so bad.

Mileage.. i'd say accuracy is around 50%. Most get wound back a little, some a lot. Look for rusting (though these cars dont rust much) and interior wear. Ciggy burns in the seats is common giveaway, as is steering wheel wear and carpets where the feet been rubbing.

I've had a couple personally, and seen plenty more cars... one thing's for sure: There's good ones and there's lemons. Give it a good look, and don't settle for rubbish cars if you can afford to get a decent one.

Appreciate the quick replys, ye have read about this ball joint issues, even if they were recalled wouldn't they be screwed by now due to age or was the recall a proper fix never to cause issues again in future?

Oh ye and the bloke selling the aristo im checking out tomorrow doesn't speak English very well, this should be fun, I asked him questions on the phone with not so helpfull answers and this language barrier leads me to believe that he could be dodgy, but shall see tomorrow

ahh ye, lots of typo's in the add like year and mileage, but looking at the rear end it's definitely series one, like I explained earlier the English not so good and he has another aristo on carsale too.

That cars been for sale for a while. Pictures were taken at the waltzy in springvale. He's not far from my work in bentleigh east.

$120 for roadworthy? Making a profit on it I suppose.

Being a series one I'd look at all ball joints, bushes, mounts, valve stem seals and oil leaks.

Try working him down.

Otherwise trubo (bill) has two nice aristos with all usual maintenance already done.

Also Sang's black one with tan leather is on Carsales too. That's a nice car minus the horrible honky red highlights on the plastics in the interior but I'm sure you can replace those with standard items from aristoman for very cheap and sell those horrible ones to a jdm baller.

ye will definitely try and work him down and question the cost of the rwc.
I really would like a pearl white aristo but I guess if something good pops up regardless of color it should be considered.

Mileage is most likely wound back like every other import from that era. But as long as the condition is good that doesn't matter.

He's asking a bit much for it but if you look at his other car for sale, you can tell he has no idea what the real market is. Try work him down got nothing to lose, it's a buyers Market.

It makes u wonder about winding back the clock on these jap imports, ever since I remember they all have low mileage not consistant with their age,what do they do in japan garage them and walk?
Over the years it's become the norm for most imports having low k's so it makes u wonder.
Anybody else have any experience with this particular aristo? looked at it, test drive etc?
