Hi All,

I now have my Modified Accumulator from Mooty and have installed it into my Spare BMC that doesn't leak.
I also have New Bendix Brake Pads ready to go in. ($106/Set Front & Rear From Repco - Supercheap Wanted $125/Set Front and $135/Set Rear or something similar)

I am looking at getting the BMC Changed over and the Brake Pads Replaced and Full System Bled.

Does anyone have a workshop that they recommend to do it (In Brisbane)?

I have been quoted roughly $200 for the Changeover and Brake Pad Swap with a Full System Bleed, through JA AutoCare at Slacks Creek.

Has anyone had any experience with them?
I know they have done it before and the owner has an Aristo himself.

Great price...I've done one of these and it's a bit of a prick to be honest. Nothing too hard but a lot of fucking around under the dash etc.

If you're getting that done plus the labour to replace the pads and system bleed it's a bargain in my opinion.

Yeah I am thinking that too Agreed
It was $150 Labour + Fluids.. I estimated it totalling about $200

Well the supercheap you went too is obviosly retarded. We can get bendix HDs for $87 a pair + freight (DB1395 and DB1396). So for $190ish you have 4 new sets....

I will go in there and see what the price is on the rack tomorrow.
(Reading this reminded me that I forgot to pick up the Brake Pads on the way home from work)

Get the quote in writing and check that they are aware of what the car is and the work involved.

As JayVee mentioned, it can be a prick of a job (fiddly/time consuming) which could add up in extra hours of labour being charged.

Hi JayVee,

Roughly how long would it take to do the changeover?

I reckon with the right tooling you could do it in 4 hours or less, I did it at jamies on mine after work one night and it prob went out to 5 or 6 hours with two off us,

Just make sure they are not going to trying snag other parts of the car and make there coin there.

Have they done the job before?

Well last time I was out that way, (They are situated on the same sight as an Import Yard) they were doing a BMC CHangeover to an Aristo / Just finished.

I will book it in an see how it all pans out.
December 18th booked in for the Whole Day.

I figure if it works out, it will give the Brisbane people somewhere to go to get theirs done at a reasonable price.

After you remove the modules that are in the way, and turn yourself into a contortionist the rest is a walk in the park Smile

Mooty is more experienced at these than me by the sounds of it, but I don't remember it taking 4hrs?

Hi All,

Thought I would give you an update..

I have the BMC Changed over today and new Bendix Pads all round and full system Flush with new fluid.
Cost me a total of $250.

I had my non-leaking BMC installed with a Modified Accumulator from mooty, and now I have a new problem!!! Confused

On the way home from the workshop.. the ABS, TRACTION CONTROL AND HANDBRAKE LIGHT Came on.... Before the Changeover I used to occassionally get the ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL.. Never the Handbrake!!

Does anyone have any advice, or possible cause of the problem?
At current, I am not that happy with my car! Mad Rant Rant Mad Bawling

Regards,
Sherwin

Have you checked the fluid level? Is the resovior cap on properly and the little cable plugged in to the cap?

Pretty sure it means low fluid level, at least mine did.

Could also be that the master cylinder unit has a dodgey solonoid or something causing the lights to come up.

Hi Nick,

Ok, I have changed over Caps and seem to be getting the 3 lights ALL the time Bawling
So I may change them back, I am guessing by brake fluid in the cap you mean the Clear plastic part on the underside of the cap having fluid in it... (If So.. I fear both have that issue!!)

As a side note, how do I get the fault codes for the ABS / Traction Control System?

I have Bridged Terminals TE1 and E1 in the Drivers Footwell and am getting No Codes..
However, the ABS, Trac Off and Handbrake Lights are on!!

Regards,
Sherwin

Ok people..

This is really giving me the Sh*ts!!
The Nitrogen Pump keeps priming after every 2-3 uses of the pedal, sometimes it does when I just leave it in neutral IDLING!!

I have a modified and regassed Nitrogen Accumulator from Mooty.

ABS, TRAC OFF and Handbrake Lights are driving me insane!
I am getting ZERO fault codes from this thing... Is it possible that this accumulator is empty or low or even that the Accumulator is on too tightly?

I also have a new BMC Reserviour Cap ordered from Toyota to make sure it's not that cap causing all of this! ($160 Delivered)

RECAP:
Basically when I start the car, Nitrogen Pump Primes for about 30sec (normal - I think)

Sometimes.. The Handbrake Light will come on, which triggers the ABS Light and in turn triggers the TRAC OFF light!

IF it doesn't do it while idling before I put it in gear! IT WILL!! Do it while I am driving.
Nitrogen Pump will prime....Handbrake Light Lights up.. ABS LIghts up at the same time.. then about 1-2secs later.. TRAC OFF LIGHT!

This is the only problem I have with the car and it makes me want to ......... Sad Bawling Sad

Regards,
Sherwin

take it easy sherwin..................this still could be your res cap giveing u all this shit !!!!
wait till u get the new 1,then disconnect the battery for an hour, and refit the new cap !!!!

now ,i take it u have checked for ANY leaks around all brake calipers, your pads are ok ???
u have NO !!!...fluid comeing down the brake pedal arm, under the dash ???
i ask cause a recharged accumilator,WILL...put xtra pressure,in the brake system,
if the BMC,is old and weak, the new parts CAN...make the bmc...shit itself ??
keep me updated sherwin.....THIS IS FIXABLE FELLA !!!!!....cheers nick.... Very Happy
