I really wasn't sure where to place this information so went with this section as a catch-all.

I recently had an accident and needed to replace my windscreen. In the past with any of my other cars (there's seven in the family of which I own 5) it was just a case of ring my windscreen guy and he came out and did the job with a minimum of downtime.

The Aristo, being fully imported, is another matter though. My windscreen guy brought out two 'screens, none of which even went close to fitting. A quick look through his supplier's catalogs revealed there is no replacement locally available. He said it would probably have to come from Japan.

After having the good fortunate of tracking down a possible 2nd hand replacement locally (due to this excellent forum!) I checked with Toyota regarding any possible problems.

What I found out was that there are over a dozen variants for replacement windscreens for the JZS147!

At first I thought this was going to be a major PITA. But as it turns out these variations are to do with tint colour and options rather than the physical size of the windscreen.

You can get Aristo windscreens in green, grey and bronze tint, and some even have heater elements in them. So if you have to replace your windscreen, check the tint colour of your original before getting a replacement. If you are not fussed about the tint colour, then you don't have too many problems!

Don't need to be a member to browse anymore Smile

We cut our cars above the screen, however without a roof to stiffen it all up, I've seen the screens crack when the front is moved around.

I managed to get one through Instant Windscreens a while back.

It took them three different windscreens before they managed to find the right one. That right one had to be shipped from over east with no idea if it would actually fit. I believe they also said it was the last one in Australia.

Might be worth giving them a try?

Lexus gs300 fits.. just make sure its the right colour ( ie not bronze ..cept for white cars) and thats its RHD ( the LHD screen wont fit due the the Wiper motor being offset towards the other side..simply put the cut out is different at the bottom)

Yeah I got mine through them too a while back.
Not a cheap screen... Around the $7-800 mark.
Didn't bother me cause I get a free one every year with my insurance. Smile

Raph. You have to realize that Australia didn't get the JZS147 in LEXUS form or Aristo form. LEXUS Australia didn't bring the GS300 here until the JZS160.
Please stop saying that the GS300 will fit. Yes it will, provided that it is a JZS147 GS300 and it is RHD. It is useless advise to people that live in Australia.
