You get what you pay for. Unfortunately in Australia we are that fucked over with EPA, OH&S etc that everything is passed on to the consumer. I charge out at 105+GST per hour for truck work while the grubby backyarders are charging 65 - 85. Then again, they pay us to come connect the scan tool that costs us 26 grand a year to own, and the people that own the trucks pay 120ph on after hrs breakdown call outs plus 170 call out fee and 1.10 a km to go out because we HAVE a 24hr breakdown truck with all the shit to get them moving again. The mechanics are rostered on a week at a time and cannot have a drink, cannot go out or take their families to the beach in that week because they HAVE to be available at a moments notice. It costs money to do it. We recover that money and make a profit.

If Millenium have what it takes to do the job right, then they should charge for it. Either pay it or get cheaper work done at cheaper rates. It sucks but don't blame the mechanics, they have extraordinary costs to recoup and it still is cheaper than what a dentist or a surgeon charges per hour - fuck, try a vet some time!

got the results back from best performance today and was very happy with the results with the issues that they found with my car. one of my turbos seems to be on its way out, and i either have a tiny air leak or a dodgy boost controller as it was not stable after 12 psi.

so with current mods being catback exhaust, kkr intercooler, gizmo ibc, safc 2, for the performance side of things i went from

168rwkw to 194rwkw with boost sitting at a maximum of 12psi.

even though they shut at 5, anthony (aka toyota2jz) sat down and had a chat with me for the next half hour happily going through everything including what needs to be sorted now as well as options down the track. This made me feel very confident compared to previous experience with other workshops especially considering the boost issues i have had they were the first out of a few to pick up on it.

anthony at Best Performance is based at unit 5, 10 jijaw st Sumner park and would highly recommend to anyone wanting straight advice with where to go and very reliable and knowledgable work.

now who wants to sell me some stock turbos! Very Happy
please pm me or reply in the WTB section

not really interested in going single, not after a big shiny thing in the engine bay, and ive been in a car with a 2jz running high fflow turbos, and that is more than enough for me to wrap myself around a tree Smile

Sorry to cut in on your thread polarbear, but 51one, you seem knowledgable, and everyone else i guess too, are the aristo autos weak?

I was under the impression that they could handle a fair punishment?

question not aimed at me mate, but cant help myself,i am led to believe they CAN HANDLE,
a fair bit of curry, talking to some that know more than me ,have said,if your intention is to go
over 300 H/P to the rear wheels,it is advisable to place a MV shift kit in,

just my 2 cents worth, lets see what the auto guru,s have to say on the subject????
all the best nick.......... Very Happy

lol im full of crap hahahaha or should i say full of curry LOL

but no ay the box is pretty tuff. its just i got way confused on what oil to use in my box and used the genuine toyota type IV stuff thinkin that it superseded the type II as marked on my dipstick but i was wrong. i should have used plain old dexIII. and yeah im gettin another stock box in then as soon as i have the valve body and stall out of the other box ill be sending them to mv to get modified to a 1.5 shift and 2800/3000 stall.

(i know another automatic shop thats here in brizzy that seems to know what they are doing so i mite try them out. talked to them a few times know. actually michael (2JUBBS) has got one of their shift kits and seems very happy and with the freight and stuff to get from MV iv worked out brizzy guys will be cheaper)
