Are many people running optima batteries? These are from what I hear very popular and as such am looking at getting one. Have found the following on ebay which seem a bit cheap for optima is there any difference between the below?

I remember years ago walking into a music shop and having a chat with the owner. I was asking about the difference between a particular instrument with two versions, one made in the USA and another made in Mexico. There was a HUGE difference in the price.
He said,"....well, it's like this; you can choose to buy the USA version made by Mexicans in the USA or you can settle on the the Mexican version made by Mexicans in Mexico for half the price."
Another unrelated, but interesting note further to this. A friend of ours here who is a native Indonesian, recently started work at a factory manufacturing parts that are installed into Panasonic fridges and air conditioners. She was amazed to find that almost all the workers in the plant were foreigners. It makes you think about insisting on purchasing a product made in Japan as opposed to say China.
My point is, it is getting to the stage now that it really does not matter where in the world a product is made. It really depends on cost - and that, unfortunately, is all our fault (consumers) as much as the manufacturing companies. It's all about supply and demand. If in fact the quality of an Optima battery has fallen, then that should be also reflected in the price. But just because it is now made in Mexico does not always mean that it is not as good now on that point alone.
Now I will let you continue your thread. BTW, I had an Optima Yellow Top in my old car, Made in Mexico and it worked just fine.
It doesn't matter about who is working in the factories - The issue lies with the companies QC processes and what they deem to be an acceptable failure rate.
I own a battery retail shop and though i'd throw my 2 cnts in, i can tell you that when Optima moved to Mexico they had problems, but now they are all sorted. They also increased there warranty periods.
It all comes down to how old the battery is when you buy it. You can find out how old they are by looking on the bottom of the battery. The import date is whats stamped on top.
Optima is one of the best marketed battery brands in the world. But there are better quality options that are cheaper.
If you wanna go nuts you can now get a Braille lithium battery with carbon casing. You first will need to sell both legs and arms... _________________
I just brought a yellow top before seeing your post, comes with a 3 year warranty and got it for 279 so pretty happy with that price seeing battery world wanted 399.
I heard that Optima batteries require more then 14+ volts other wise they only charge to 60%?
Still I have one in my car and love it! The Mr has one in his Silvia that keeps discharging though. _________________
