True yeah i should have said most cars i've owned,Lachlan mate your not wrong can see how much room the twins take up with all that piping, down the track would like to fit a nice sized single _________________
Max: Two days ago, I saw a vehicle that would haul that tanker. You want to get out of here? You talk to me.
....... dont you start with your..." GOT TO GO SINGLE" ....shit...!! "VLT".....!!
some of us out there just love dicking around ALL the pipework , to get to another part around the stock "twins"....!!! ..............NOT..!!
and yes mate....i got your point with the "not looked under the bonnet of a lot of cars lately"...comment........ mmmm....lots of DONKS with the "thermo" in THAT possie, so when you remove it you get DROWNED....
WELL.................have to "vent" here lads....!! feel free to piss your pants over this one....
this IS the kind of day i had today......
paint a picture here ::: car on stands. new thermostat / seal / rad cap / red rad fluid .
last 24 hours have had "dishwashing powder" in the rad for cleaning purposes.! dropped bottom hose of thermo housing and started flushing the system out to get rid of foam / shit in radiator.!
once all clean...removed thermo housing , pulled out old thermo / replaced with new one + seal , and then under the car to replace unit !
IF...you have ever done this, you will notice a small black encased wires running over the top of the thermo housing....? THIS ....gave me a huge problem today..!
with water every where + still coming out of block , i replaced the housing and bolted it up with the 2 , 12 mill nuts .filled the rad with new fluid , put my heater on max heat, and ATTEMPED....to start the car....
NOTHING........... the POS...would not start...? after dicking about for bloody ages , trying to find out WHAT , i had done here wrong...........................I FOUND IT...!!
the above mentioned "wire" (i now know there are 2 here red / white one ) HAD fallen down , and when i placed the thermo housing back up, and tightened it up , i JUST caught THIS WIRE in the thermo housing and CUT THE THING IN HALF !!!! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....it was CUT...and one end was "earthed" onto the thermo housing , until i unbolted this ,and pulled the wires out !!! again water all over ME...
and then had to "splice" the wires . add 12 inches of wire into the "loom" so to speak and use "heat shrink" around all for safety and connect it back up...!! BINGO...!!! IT LIVES AGAIN...!!
keep this in the "maybe usefull info" page of the mind , just in case YOU DO THIS....... NICK.!
ooohhhh.....and after ALL THIS.....does my car run heaps cooler.....NO....!!!
the dash sender is f&%ked , and giving me a FALSE reading....... only a month old !
Hehehe, u old timers crack me up! Did u get much shit out if the cooling system using dishwashing powder? I kno the moffatt boys (tom and nick) used it with gud results, but have always been a but sceptical. _________________
well not much bloke...! and to be honest ...THIS...was not really my problem , although i thought it WAS.....
BUT.....to answer your Q here....it does work soti...! most shit i got out of the cooling system seemed to come out late..? so i am going to say, most of MY shit was in the "heating radiator" in / under the dash mate......?
where i live, hardly ever use the "heat" dial...in the car bloke...!! nick
found my problem today... IT WAS THE TEMP SENDER ....in the dash... that was giving me grief...!!
i HAVE re-worked a lot of 147 dashs to date.....and have NEVER had a temp sender go bad and send the needle on it.....upto the boiling red mark......
most , well all to date....just dont move or only move a "tad" and give a false reading..!! you live and learn i guess. nick .
