Part-out vs. Selling complete car.

I've made up my mind. It's becoming more difficult to insure imports of our type.
Things have changed for me too. I bought a ute and wife has a new car. I also did Sprints the other day, (in her car Very Happy ).
However, the smallest, lightest, manual cars with high Hp engines, ruled the event and the podium Confused.
I plan to enter more events in the future but need to get rid of my Aristo Bawling in order to get something specific to Sprints.
As things stand, it is by far, much better to part out????
Would you do the same?

The real question you need to ask yourself is, does your car have anything worth parting out on it? ie; what good parts have you got on it? If its a mostly stock car then its not worth parting, and just sell as complete. If its lightly modded and you've still got all the stock bits, then it might be worth putting it back to stock and selling it like that then selling off the few bits and pieces. I tend to think though that someone stepping into the lower end of the scale would prob think that a tastefully lightly modded car is more desirable then something dead stock (things like some nice headlights, and intercooler and exhaust). Then there's the extreme end, heavily modded car single turbo conversion, big fuel system, ecu ect;, done up gearbox, good diff. this might be worth parting, but only is its good quality gear (if its china junk its worth nothing). You also have to factor in how much you value your time because its going to take a lot of it up to part a car out.

If it was me, wanting to move on from the Aristo, I think id be looking at maybe buying a front cut and doing the swap over, that way I could sell the car as a complete rego'd driving car, but keep my engine box setup to use in something else/sell on as a complete package.
