Gents,
I've done a bit of a search but have not found anything conclusive.
Basically the plastic hook that holds it to the keyring on my key with the central locking button broke. I lived without it for a few weeks and used my spare valet key instead but manually unlocking the doors got annoying.
So i took a punt and drilled a small hole in the top right hand corner of the key with the central locking button in it. All seemed fine, central locking worked for a few days but now it's stopped and I think the keyring I was using has dislodged part of the battery circuit. The key can't be dissasembled any further to get to it though.
So what are my options, can I get a new remote programmed to match somehow? I want to get a remote immobiliser anyway (currently have push button one only), can I just get a new immobilser wired in with a new central locking remote or will I need to get all new actuators/kit for it?
the actuators respond to voltage, so anything that gives them voltage will work, u just need a new alarm, the actuators will be fine...the original key still locks/unlocks my soarer and thats got a aftermarket alarm...find it pretty cool that i still have the original key and it works! _________________
just get an alarm system and use the central locking of that. thats what i do cos i just got one key with my car so have the original at home and use the new one (that i got cut at locksmith) with the alarm system. _________________

If you go to any good car alarm shop or search on google there is a company that can clone the signal to another device. i did it for one of my cars in the past.... cant remember te exact name of it but there is a place here in malaga... _________________

you could use a micro latch stand alone rf unit.$100 it has four open collectors that are programable to the four buttons on the fobs,the collectors have a low current rating so use some 12v relays with a decent current rating.you can splice into the central locking wiring in the d/s door..
with the two leftover relays you could do like me and have a remote boot release. _________________

Have been meaning to get a remote immobiliser installed on here since I bought it but never really had a decent excuse to lay the spendoolies down.
Anyone have suggestions for a decent place in Perth NOR that would do a remote immobiler and hook up the central locking to the same remote? I know I can google but personal recommendations go a lot further, especially when it involves auto electricians. _________________

I used one of the spare collectors on mine which isolates the fuel pump,I have to hit a switch on the fob to turn the pump back on,pretty good imobiliser _________________

I don't know about alarm installs as I do that myself mate.
But whenever I've had auto eleccy issues I've found this place that's kinda NOR? they're in Jolimont.
This guy is awesome, he's always so nice even the first time I met him. Does simple shit and gives advice for free. Tends to keep himself busy doing custom electrical installs on classics and such? Not sure if he does alarm installs but I imagine he's very capable.
Anyway, Biddy's Auto Electrics. 66 Jersey St, Jolimont.
Give him a ring maybe and ask if he does that sort of thing? _________________

I considered tackling it myself, but as much as I'm reasonably competent with auto electrics I actually hate dealing with it so would prefer to pay to save the pain.

I'm pretty sure that's the place I went to I think they use a device called remocom or something like that, they just clone the signal into a new reciever with 4 buttons! _________________
Why get a whole new alarm if the remote is just fucked?
It's currently only got a push button fob immobiliser, which is a pain and the arse to have to insert before starting the car.
Have been planning to go to a remote immobiliser for some time, now the remote central locking is screwed may as well kill two birds with one stone. _________________
Ended up going with Ashley Electrical: http://www.ashleyelectrical.com.au/main/home.php. It was a come-to-you type setup so I booked it in for my work place as I dont drive it there much. Only needed a couple of days notice, the guy on the phone didnt flinch when I mentioned it was an import either.
The installer did a very neat job indeed, I popped down a couple of times to check on it and he looked like he knew what he was doing. Everything was soldered in, no crappy interceptor clips used.
Ended up getting a remote immobiliser, factory central locking paired in and the boot release tied into the remote for under $300. Not bad considering it took him a couple of hours, I hate auto electrics so was happy to let someone else handle this type of a job.
Definitely recommend them, they seem to know what they're doing and charge reasonable rates - which is rare for auto electricians in my experience. _________________
