you could do a simple compression test to see if its the rings...........the seals in the front of the turbo tend to leak oil..........more likey to be rings to me with that oil useage hey so up for a cheap rebuild be 2k plus.......dose it spit and oil out

gearbox service should be cheap do it yourself
window frame thiong always pop off.............need some clamps and apoxie to glue them back on

I dont know what you want people to say? It sounds like you either purchased a complete lemon of a car, or youve run it into the ground. So choices are sell it for very little and make a decent loss on it, or fix it up and then do regular maintainance on it and keep driving and enjoying it.
Worst issue youve got is the oil usage, what grade of oil are you using? if its something super thin like Mobil 1 and you've got a high KM engine its going to burn a bit of oil. Id be willing to put money on your oil usage being from leaks and likely turbo oil seals though. 2J's are prone to some oil leaks, none of which are expensive or hard to fix if you can swing a spanner or two.
All the other stuff is very common with our cars seat cog's get stripped, dash neddles die, window trims break. All of them really easilly fixed for very little money. All you need to do is pull your finger out and spend a couple of hours a week on doing some maintainance and it will be a decent car again, go figure.
These cars are getting on to 20 yrs old now, they are going to need regular maintainance. If you cant or are not interested in providing it. then its best you move onto something newer, because if you dont youll find your self driving a busted arse pile of you know what pretty quick.
oil has always been Castrol Sports 5w30 changed every 5000km.
car has always been maintained in the way of oil changes, fluid levels kept up, etc, but it really was a lemon when I bought it.
was given an auction grade of 3.5, realistically it was a 2...
there are scuffs and scrapes on the car which were touched up with black paint and a paint brush, a small hole melted in the front bumper, and the paint was starting to turn white when I first got the car.
so, I've completely lost interest in the appearance of the car, and just mechanically maintained it.
but now that the seats have gone, needles have failed, and engine is blowing smoke... I've lost interest even more :/
are turbo seals something I can replace myself? are there kits available to do it?
get a compression test done that will help diagnosing why its using oil
the jap paint is not designed for australian condition's thats why it turns to crap
i wouldnt do the turbo seal myself but mates have plenty of rebuild kits around for ct20's but if the compressor/exhaust wheels are chip,bent,broke then you need a good second hand set you could go see glen dose cheap rebiulds for them...............seats/needles are like lachlan said common easy fix

Could be leaking from anywhere underneath as he said he hasn't had a peek nor on the ground. Cam seals leak but not that much. Does it blow heaps on start up and as you're driving and accelerating? If your too slqck for any of this, have you simply chucked in an oil additive to stop leaks? No where near the best option, but an option.
it does leak, I've looked under it, not a heap though, and only occasionally will it actually drip onto the ground.
rocker cover gasket was replaced some time ago, as that was leaking, and also from memory the rear main seal was replaced when I had a shift kit/stall converter done, because I believed that to be leaking too :/
its actually currently running "Engine Armour" synthetic blend 10w40, topped up with "Syn Power" fully synthetic 10w50 (which I run in my Laser)
you can't actually see the smoke in your mirrors when driving (possibly because the mirrors and windows haven't been washed in 4 years) but when following the car you can see it smoking.
it used to just smoke on start up, (valve stem seals) now its gotten worse.
When ever im considering selling a car, i think...IF i do sell it what will i buy to replace it, then all the pro's and cons of doing so....
Myself after doing that i generally keep the car another 3 or so months before asking the same questions again as car's change in price / whats on the market changes / Have more money saved to spend on another car.... but Afer changing car's 4 times in 2.5 years i have lost ~15k doing so (mostly in mods i did that you never get money back on) So make sure your 100% sure when it comes to it
