well, Tom finally got the word and the car that we have been putting a lot of our time and Tom's money into is dead. Written off by a dickhead in a Mitsubishi Canter light truck who wasn't paying attention and rear ended me.
For those of you that don't know, the car is/was owned by Tom (my brother) and we share this log in and do all the work on the car together.
Tom was working away and asked me to drive the car to keep it running (battery etc), and me and my wife were stuck in peak hour traffic and got hit at about 40-50kmph. aside from sore necks we were ok but the car has over $10000 damage, and as such, has been written off.
this has been going on since 21st January so we're getting a bit sick of waiting. Tom called the insurance company today and they gave him the news.
We will be getting another car and starting again as he has bought plenty of go fast parts so they need to be used. it was only a couple of weeks away from the singe build too.
this was a very nice car so it's sad to see it go. we will probably be getting it back and taking the engine, trans and diff out of it and parting out the rest. we may build a drag car with the spare engine but not sure yet.
heres the damage pics. doesn't look like much but it has 3 kinks in the chassis rails.

Terrible luck man that really sucks. Hope you get some money or something off that truck driver. But it was lucky that no injuries or the engine side of the car wasn't smashed.
i dont get it?????????????
these cars just dont 'break' the tail lights are all still together!!
nothing is actually shattered!!
dam these things hold together nicely!
thats ultra shit either way!! have you actually looked at the kinked chassis rails, or is that wat they are saying?? coz i'd wana see it myself before they wrote it off, just incase there are fuking you over!
but by the looks of things even if the rails were straight it'd be a bitch to fix that back end, especially those rear 1/4 panels! _________________

Thommo, the exhaust and wheels were the first things to go sorry mate.
we are pretty devasted about it, but at least everyone is ok. we have bought another one and will pick it up tonight.
i have seen the rails and it was me that acutally spotted one of the kinks.
we can thanks the dickhead in the truck for this. i nearly dropped him when he got out of the truck and said, "shit it's a brand new truck too"
don't worry thommo, some of the car will live on in another form.

i've acutally still got the 'Y' pipe from the HKS system but we blew the packing out of the shitty NA mufflers. we went a little further with the performance side of things and they didn't stand up.
at least this new car is a stocko and we can start with a clean slate. looking to push some serious horsepower once finished in the coming months.
we will keep the plates too. it just goes to show how something you look after and love can be taken away so quickly. this car was Tom's pride and joy and i loved it too. oh well, at least we can start again.

picked up the new car today. Tom was all happy and we were looking at it in the driveway and then all of a sudden, bang, and coolant started spraying out the grill. blew the radiator top tank. theres a nice big crack half the length of the tank! oh well, lucky we have a spare now.

Another black one id expect
thanks mate. yeh it's the one that was for sale on here with the red striped rims. paid a little more than we wanted to but it is a very nice example, aside from the radiator.
it's nicer than the old one we reckon.
