G'day people
just joined the site and I am in the process or sourcing my first aristo, so far I have viewed two,the first looks good,50k but no history ,light vibration from the front and passenger side rear door lock not operating properly!!!!
The second car has the dieing bird and that was all I noticed so far $11500
the first was 8500!!!
What do we think, what other things should I be checking realated to aristos?? _________________

if it has weather shields, check if they have pulled the door trim away from the door frame (can be heard as a whistling whilst traveling 60+) dying bird is common, means the BMC needs refilling and the seal in the BMC itself are leaking(which is what causes the bird, well thats as far as i understand it)
the BMC can leak brake fluid into the car, the carpet right in front of your foot.
the X-mas tree, as it is so called, drive the cars, use the brakes more than you need to and see if any of the lights on the dash come up (handbrake (!), ABS) usually indicates that you'll need a replacement on your nitrogen canister, mooty can take care of that!!
knocking in the suspension, get under the car and see if it has new suspension arms in it, mine did
jack the corners of the car up and wiggle the entire wheel assembly, up, down, side, side, it its loose you'll need new ball joints.
sludge in the motor is about the only other common issue, thats because, as you said, no service records, could indicate that is hasnt EVER had a service! very common for Jap cars not to get services, would be useful to find out when the car came into the country, that way you can get a rough idea of if it has been serviced!
oh and sometime (most times for me) the standard cd player wont play cd's, sometimes it just decides to fu$k with your mind!!
other than that, have fun! drive a few more, be picky with issues coz they can be quite xpensive, vibrating back end could be alot of things, warped brake rotors, bearings, buckled wheel, etc.
ummm, tired, thats all i can think of, stupid neighbor pulled out the petrol chainsaw @6am, i went to sleep a 5, stupid fu$kin prick!
Aristoman is the guy to see for parts, oh and window regulators are also prone to breakin, little plastic clip that makes the windows go up/down!
oh and i wouldnt believe that its only got 50k on the clock, check mechanicals, thats a better indication of KM's, and the overall condition of interior/exterior etc.! _________________
