Hi guys,
I'm not sure if this topic has been discussed before, but is there anyone done the 2JZGTE conversion job in a local made GS300 (1998~2004) before? How hard can it be and how much will it cost? Any good workshop can do it for a good price、
I ask this question caz I just imported a JZS147 for my dad's birthday present and he loves it! But personal I'm more prefer the later model JZS161. JZS147 is a great car, but the later one is newer, which means less problems, and looks more morden. Only point made it down is the 2JZGE, no turbo means its only a fat lazy 4 door only. So I wanna both VIP style and HUGE power!
So heres the question again:
Older 2JZGTE(non vvti, I think its 1993~1996) or later 2JZGTE(vvti, 1997+), which one is better?
How hard can it be?
How long do it take to finish by profession?
Any good workshop doing it in Australia (better in SA)?
And how much it may cost?
If the job has done well, can it be regist on road?
Also, what abt 1JZ conversion? I heared it will be cheaper and easier for mods?

if you get a jzs161 halfcut, you'd be set, probably the easiest way to go aswell, cost wise, not sure, could be an easy 2-3k for the shop, plus 4-6k for the 1/2 cut, your probably best looking/waiting for a boosted 161 _________________

The blocks are identical so it will fit quite easily with modified mounts and such.
As mentioned, your best bet is to buy a 161 halfcut, but you could manage to get a 147 engine into it without too many issues I would imagine. _________________

haha, yes, I'm a international student here and my father came for my graduation, because he and I love Lexus and he may stay here for about 6 month, so the only Lexus I can afford is JZS147......
Thanx for the replies guys! So most of u guys said half-cut will be the best choice, but I think thats only the engine part right? Are there anything else I should get as well? Such as ECU, transmission, exhaust or fule system???
