hi i am wondering if anyone has seen led tail light i am thinking of making my own and not sure how to go about it anyone got information on doing it yourself? i am buying a 2nd pair so i don't have to take my current ones out. _________________
they r freakn awesome.. i had LED tail lights on my old 32 skidder.. they were well cool.. no one had them at the time, they dont seam to now either... these would be cool though.
before we go mad here ,for this type of custom work peeps...........
a couple of things ,i should point out!!!
1,most led,s U CANT SEE IN DAYLIGHT,so some states have made them ILLIGAL!!!
2,to use led,s in your indicators,u MUST fit load resistors,or else,they will flash super fast ,
led bulbs DONT have any resistance to slow the flashing down!!
and can hardly be seen in daylight!!! and the load resistors are VERY EXXYY,u have to fit 1 per led!!!!
at a cost of $20+ per resistor.......
can only speak as i find....have done it!!!did,nt like it!!!put it back to normal...........

i should give this one ago...
i could run several LEDs from an inexpensive resistor,
then run in parrellel, a 5 or 10 watt resistor to simulate a load (same load as a light globe).
LEDs can be bought in panels, but i think a custom job would be better.
so maybe i buy many LEDs, some acrylic plastic, drill some 5mm holes,
make a LED array,

I know the full LED thing is cool, but I have been using LED lights in my car for 12 months. The ones I use simply replace the conventional globe. I use orange for the indicators etc etc.
great sites . can we have light bulb codes for these led lights so i know what to order .... eg... tail light brake and stop lights , indicator light , or parker lightrs ... pls help christodav as you mentioned you have this set up on your car ... thanks mate .. sam _________________

To save your cost on the load resistor, you can install an LED blinker relay, I have done a similar conversion to my old car. A led blinker relay cost me around $20 and I just needed one, this will make the blinking a normal pace. The only downfall is if your bulb did blow out, it will not speed up the blinking as a normal car does and leaving no indication that a bulb is out.
What I would do is wire all the leds in parallel so they share the same voltage.
What load resistors were you using? They only get real expensive if they are a very high wattage. _________________
