That's good to hear mate! Mayhap they are not so stingy as they are made out to be...

inspired - Ouch. That is very hefty mate... With that kind of pricetag you have to wonder if it's worth it... I'm only 4 years older than you and am getting compo for almost the price you got quoted for 3rd party Razz

Anyone had experience with claims through Just Car Insurance? They seem to be only option for people <25. I know boost controllers and piggybacks are frowned upon (i.e. illegal according to ADR) but would they use this to deny a claim? I've heard of plenty of people with them passing regency, usually in skylines.
How about ride height? I'm pretty low but they know about my coilovers and I've got that in writing.

i think it comes down to luck! but at the end of the day they are by far the most open to mods so by my reckoning they are far more liekly to allow things and be less surprised by it, especially if you listed it.

thats how i look at it. i mean in the end all insurance co's can say if its not legal then they wont cover you, but a lot of things are debateable. i mean if you are driving along and your cars so low you hit some pothole, catch your exhaust and roll they might complain. Then if you get rear ended and bend your suspension, i doubt they're going to mind.

my brother is with RAC and has a modified SS Ute, he bought it that way with little knowledge of what was done to it, then he was angry one night and planted it round a corner in the wet and hit a kerb. He damaged 2 rims & tyres, bent suspension, bent his half shafts, some rear suspension arms etc. They reviewed it, decided to cover, and then begun to look over the damage. He ended up getting the car sent to a performance suspension shop and got brand new lowered springs and shocks, and turned out he had billet halfshafts and had those replaced too, along with a new pair of rims (19s) and low profile tyres.

So all in all RAC say they dont do modded cars and had a big sad at me and i cancelled my policy with them after they said they would do listed mods, then i put my coilovers in and they said no! And yet they covered my brothers non standard mods in an accident arguably was his fault anyway.

IMO as far as the mod situation goes id stick with Just Car. i have heard they can be iffy but no specifics, but i still think theyre much less likely to rock up and go WTF? when you have clearly listed all your mods already - they know what theyre looking at.

just cars are pretty good....if you go through the online quote thing there are so many "performance" related options that you can select

Once you have done that I called Just Cars and actually had added an extra $2000 of value to my car based on what I selected there.

This was after calling them and running through it with a rep and getting less than what I did online.

So it pays to do it online and then call up to see if they can better it for you.

Well I'm with Just Car atm but I'm slightly concerned about doing new mods, even if they are aware of them and they aren't legal. Although, pretty much everything is illegal.

When I got it talked up the value of my car by about $3000 no probs so that was good.

the only thing with doing illegal mods if they know about them... its fine.. but they have to prove that it was the result of the mod that made the accident occur

Interesting thread!

I just turned 21, and unfortunately lost my licence for 1 month last year for speeding, for insuring an aristo with mods, FMIC, Exaust, etc, which one does a better price? famous or just car?

& is it possible to put the car under parents name and make me a nominated driver, or worse case scenario be a safe driver and stick to 3rd party fire and theft?

I can't remember why now but Famous would not insure me. I tried a few different avenues but they said there was no way that they would.

Ended up going with Just Cars and increasing my excess so that the premium was only $1200

On my P's btw.

are u FIX IT,minded,in other words,if u dont know much about cars ,or are not "handy "
with a tool box full of tools,
i would suggest,plan "A" NOMINATED DRIVER,with mum and dad,
plan B, they are going to eat u alive, fee wise!!!!!!!!!!!
if u like getting in there and trying to do "your own thing" with your aristo,
then a lot, lot, cheaper to do fire and theft!!!
if u was unlucky enough ,to have a fairly small, fender bender,
would u be willing to ,and have the room,to pull off said dented panels, and replace them,
and then go get them resprayed,
do u get where, i am coming from???
hope this helps nick..........

I would be more worried about paying for the repairs to the BMW that you hit.

Full comp should you be able to afford it is always the best option.

Yeah I definitely do! I'm not 100% mechanically minded but would give anything a shot. Probably have to go the nominated driver with mum and dad I reckon! Might have to call up famous and enquire and just car and see which one is more reasonable.

You could read that 2 ways, does Third Party come with Fire and Theft...no it doesn't.

Does (Third Party)Fire and theft come with third party....yes it does.

I seriously considered going 3rd party fire n theft too, for some time.

I was getting quotes for ridiculous figures, and most places wouldn't insure me at all...

But then when I got it and went to go insure it, contacted Just Car and they ended up pretty damn cheap to be honest. With adJust Excess to the max (ie, added $1.1k to my excess), my premium for full compo is only about $600 a year. I'm *Very* happy with that Very Happy Especially as i'm <25 and male, with a turbocharged import >_<
But then, I have a clean record, and have been driving for 6 years now, with barely ever loosing a demerit point.

So the only thing you can do mate is to contact them and see what they say!
