Hey,

Just wondering if anyone has a list of the work that actually gets done when complying an Aristo. I'd like to see if I can do some myself to lower the cost of compliance.

Cheers

Most of the electrical work is really shoddy. Plus, I still can't believe that my car was even approved for a roadworthy with the shock absorbers the way they were!

Mine actually came out of the compliance shop in worse condition than when it went in. I actually saw the car before it went there and went over it with a fine tooth comb. Here's what I got back:

Deep scratches (to the plastic) in the rear bar like someone had dragged something along the back of it while it sat there for months.

Zipper scratches through to the undercoat on both front quarter panels where some fuckwit was leaning over the engine bay doing very shoddy work on wiring etc.

Very shoddy wiring and fitment of the quarter panel indicators, and a complete disregard for refitting the plastic wheel arch shrouds - just screwed in and hanging at the apex with the clips not replaced.

Massive overspray and retard level masking on painting over the reactive reflectors on the rear bar, looks like a spray can was used.

Broken retainers in the boot trim and loose wires everywhere. Jack missing.

When fitting the cat they changed the downpipe. Now the downpipe itself IS good quality but the original studs were rooted so they just cross threaded the nuts on and hoped for the best. It parted company on the way home by about 1/4 inch gap and sounded like a tractor.

Fluids not changed etc etc.

I fixed it all at my cost because although I could have made them re-do it under statutory law I was not keen to give the car back into their care at all.

Agree totally with you there Ant as have had some cars as per your description too Suprised

Scariest thing is these cars then get checked over by an engineer and passed Nervous

Definetly do it alot cleaner / cheaper myself as lets face it all we're paying for is a crappy adhesive label & engraved chassis number and so called shoddy workmanship !

These are actually lights. They are common in Japan, but not legal here is Australia.

They spray them and/or disconnect them during complience. They just disconnected mine.

I've been in import yards (last job) where they are on the phone to Japan telling the agents how many km to wind the odometers back to LOL

That and the roadworthy inspector filling out 10 or so certificates in the office having never seen the cars. The industry is pretty shady.

Well it sounds like I'm not the only one who's goin through compliance trouble. I took my first Aristo to 'Nizmo' in Brisbane and they did the shittest job imaginable. I don't care if they read this they can get fucked. There has to be a better way... this time i'll be taking photos and having a mechanic write a report about the car before it gets complied and if there's any damages or dodgyness' ill be calling my solicitor. Anyway I think I've found a place on the Gold Coast that'll do it, 'Takagi' its called in Labrador.

cheers everyone
