I had the same problem. My boot release didnt work either. The other day though i flicked it and what do you know..its working again. Anyways the only way i ended up getting my key out was ripping the sub out. I figured its cheaper than paying whatever amount the locksmith wants to charge me.
The whole boot release thing is sus. I don't get it, because the car doesn't need power for the boot release to work i wouldnt think. Anyways mate, sucks it happened but best of luck getting it out. I feel your pain, believe me i do lol.
PS - just to make me look like a real idiot, i tried pulling the back seat off thinking i could get into it.. that didnt work. Then i tried cutting a whole in the cloth behind the middle seat... no such luck either haha.

the car does need power for the boot release to work, cause it's not cable actuated like most cars, but rather has an electrically actuated solenoid to pop it _________________
if you flick the boot switch does it make a noise at all ?? if not make sure that key switch between the gas and boot switch is not in , if it is then you can just reach up behind it ( you will need a torch to see ) and pull the plug from the key switch part bridge it with a bit of wire the push the boot switch , if the boot does make a noise when flicking the switch but will not open get someone to push up and down on the boot lid while you flick the switch

Is this under the dash or at the rear of the car? And what do I bridge the piece of wire to?

ah morph31, don't feel to bad. I did the same
yer the plug behing the boot release, bridge the wires on the plug,
not sure how many wires are on it but, if you ot a test light would make it easyier,
but if its only two just connect them and boot should open _________________
when i bought my car from the prev owner he had the boot released locked ... there is a place that u can put a key and lock the boot release so that worst case if someone breaks into your car they cant get into your boot??

Next step could be...
Back Seat out - 4 x 10 or 12mm bolts, Parcel shelf out - 3 x plastic clips, sub out 4 x Phillips screws, reach through and pick up your keys... May need to fashion a hook out of a wire coat hanger if you still have airpuri.
Shouldn't take more than half an hour depending on hand skills.
Just another option if you can't pop it. _________________

might be worth writing this up as a "how to" and sticking it in that section.....could be handy for people who get stuck _________________

HERES A HOW-TO WITH A DECENT DIAGRAM (MAD PAINT SKILLLZ FTW)
remove the rear seat, there are two 6x6 inch plastic covers behine the rear sear on each side.. they just pop out.. then reach thru, use a coat hanger or a flexible magnet to grab your keys. .. easy .
might want the tape a spare key under your rear seat for future emergencies.
