Ok well today I smashed up my 94 aristo. Now how it happened and what i hit are quite embarassing, My shoelace got wrapped around accelerator and stuck so tried braking when it was time to brake and panic'd because i couldn't get my foot free! Long story short i rear ended an ambulance!

The good news is there wasn't a scratch done to the ambulance, i hit the back metal step and it didn't budge, but my front end crumbled bad, bonnet, front bar completely smashed, the ambo guy hopped out and larfed at the damage to my car because as i said, not a scratch to his ambo. He was good about it. alot of weird noises coming from the engine now, the bonnet has smashed the stock airbox, smashed the radiator overfill bottle, and god knows what else, being picked up tomorrow for asessing by just cars insurance. I very highly doubt it's a write off, but hey can only hope Smile

At least you wouldn't have had to go far for medical assistance had you required it.

And that is one other reason why I don't like driving with shoes on..

But glad your ok.

I probably shouldn't of laughed. Karma got me yesterday. I was driving home yesterday, and then all of sudden snap! My front left wheel came off. Had to get RACQ to come out and tow it to the nearest centre, which was 1km away. Since i wasnt an RACQ member it was either $99 for a 1km tow, or $180ish dollars for 2 years membership (they charge an immediate assistance fee.)

So that big iron bit whatever u call it, dragged on the ground for a bit, and since it wasn't really rolling it had to be dragged along the ground a bit whilst getting winched up. So that wrecked my body kit, not that it wasn't already stuffed. My left guard is fudged as well. The guy called me up just before and said, hopefully it will just be a job of putting the wheel back on (mechanically anyways.) I hope so 2!

Don't know if they will be able to use the wheel that it happened to, so i have this feeling i'm going to need. New Rims, New Left Guard, Maybe new rotor or whatever it is i dunno that big iron bit lol. And a new front guard! So keep an eye out in the WTB section Sad

Geez how that happen? Wheel nuts not done up or? What speed where you doing when it came off. I remember another dude with an aristo was driving and a ball joint separated or something and had the same effect.

Hell yes I hope they do, cost me $13,800, agreed value of $17,000.

A mate of mine told me they will write it off, becuase buying new parts for it is near impossible and way to costly, so far things that are tottally fucked are the front bar, bonnet, the bracket that holds the front bar on via screws, air box and the induction box, radiator overfill bottle puncture, front grille, Guessing the radiator is fucked also, front right panel has a ding in it and there's alot of weird noises coming from the engine.

And with Justcars they give a lifetime gurantee on the work they do via repairs, so rather the hassell of me always bothering them over something not right they should just pay me out.

Easy stuff to repair, just need a front dress kit and a radiator. If they write it off, I'd recommend buying the rights, then fixing. I'm sure people here can find the bits Smile

be careful my bro had same sort of damage and some noises from the engine after. so investigation found that both turbos had suffered damage from inducing bits of air box. once this was bought up it was written off. bought it back fixed and on road again

well i rang smash repairs joint today, quote is upto $5500 but this does not include the parts they are trying to source from japan. The Justcars assessor is heading out tomorrow to evaluate it.

Mechanic says if the assessor authorizes him to take the engine apart, he'll find alot more damage. but as with most insurance companies they're cheap asses, so we'll see what happens.

all u need to do is take off front inlet pipe from the front turbo and you will see the damaged wheel or some truck repair places have endascopes. will dig up photos of my bros it is very easy to see and they are $3800 or something close new from toytoa so they will wright it off. if you have trouble with finding someone to check it out for you i might be able to find someone for you Smile
