Sorry bro's i juz got my car not long ago wanted to change my rims to 19" is it legal to put those sizes.. since these stock can be fitted at 17" x 8 since it stated near the door of my car (label).. Before those Pigs screw me up. thanks bro. [/b]

it depends on each state mate, theyre all different.
there are several considerations:
- rims can be too large in diameter or width over stock
- the track width of the car isnt allowed to be altered too much from stock i.e. rims cant be too
much wider and/or too much lower in their offsets
- tyres cant be stretched at all, which sometimes is necessary to fit certain rims
- tyres in the size you want for your rims may not meet the load rating sticker minimum
i think if you want to be legal you cant have nice fitment basically haha go for like 19x9s or something all round and keep the offsets in the mid 30s or higher, and then go for something like 245/40 tyres.
it is actually reasonably hard to get 19" tyres with the right load rating for our cars ive found, most are 93Y or 91Y whereas my car states 94 on the placard. It isnt really dangerous since most tyres are "extra load" (like my Nexens) so as long as you pump them up to a good pressure theyre fine, plus the load rating when calculated out gives tons of extra 'safety margin' on our cars, and by tons i mean even higher load rated than HSV R8s, Monaros etc which arguabley are more performance orientated and just as big and heavy..

in WA i was told you can only go 2 inch bigger then the factory wheel size
but i could be wrong
Rim width must not exceed the maximum rim width specified by the manufacturer by more than 25mm (1") (for passenger vehicles manufactured after 1st January 1973, the manufacturers rim width shall be taken as that specified on the tyre placard).
In any event, rim width shall not exceed 177.8 mm (7") unless specified by the manufacturer as standard equipment for the vehicle in question. No increase in rim width is permitted for vehicles fitted with original equipment rims in excess of 177.8 mm (7") width.
And
The fitment of so called "plus one" and "plus two" and tyres is acceptable providing :
* the overall diameter of the large rims fitted with the lower profile tyres do not exceed the overall diameter

there was a way to get around this with the N15 pulsars. All models except for the SSS model had 14" rims that were 6.5 wide. The SSS model had 15" rims 7" wide, so if you could get your hands on a SSS tyre placard (one being wrecked for example) you could stick it on your NON-SSS pulsar.
This could come into handy for aristo owners unlike myself, so stay away from mine! The chromed factory wheels i have are 7.5" and 8.5" wide respectively. I am told non-chromed wheels are 8" all around, is this correct? If so, then what is the legalities with respect to the post above mine IE when the wheel width is greater than 7"? Does this mean you cant go bigger than 8.5" for ALL aristos, or only ones that came from factory 8.5" wheels? Or do you need a placard like mine to have 8.5" wide rims LEGALLY?
Sorry if this is confusing, im thinking about lunch too much...
rim width has nothing to do with tyre size... i spent 2 years managing a rim and tyre store, we have a bible in there that explains all of the WA legalitys off the top of my head its no more than 30% in width increase from standard, 3% in overall rolling diameter off passanger 5% of increase in rolling diameter in RV load and speed index must be the same if not higher (that will be your biggest issue) but most police dont understand... there is no ruling in WA over rim size only over rolling diameter
if i could get tyres ne lower profile than i currently do i could have 22" my 20" are legal bad the rear is 5mm to wide on the ass end ... ahhah 285 .. that being if i had the optional fitment 225 vs 245 available from factory.
the second number 235/40/18 the 40 there is acctualy a ratio, a percentage of the shoulder width of the tyre that the sidewall is high, as such if you increase your rim size the ratio of sidewall height must decrease to keep the overall rolling diameter inkeeping. if u have any issues go to a tyre shop and im sure they can look it up in the book.. beaureapaires have them under every counter unless someone stolen it

Come to nz, 19x9.5's plus stretched tyres all round on mine, all good lol. And as it stands, my car cant even clear a pine cone laying on my gf's driveway haha but i dont get pulled over. _________________
