PostPosted: Mon Dec 22, 2008 12:06 am    Post subject: DOWNPIPE FLANGE Reply with quote

I am looking at fabricating a downpipe and i am wondering if any of you are using a supra downpipe on your aristo's. i keep getting conflicting information that the flange for the supra is different than the flange of the aristo.

The flange I am speaking of is the three bolt flange that bolts up to what looks like an O2 housing. At least it houses the O2 sensor. Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

I wouldn't fuck with that then, unless u want boost spikes, followed by putting a restrictor in lower, thus canceling out what gains u made up top.

Larger Wastegate which will eliminate the issues you are speaking of.

I simply want to know whether the bolt pattern for the supra down pipes will work on the Aristo.

It's a three bolt pattern, but is it the same three bolt pattern.

Thanks!

You're installing a larger wastegate?

External or planning on boring out the internal one?

Best way to answer you flange quetion would be to EPC the gasket and see if the JZA80 is the same part number as the JZS147.

If I get bored enough later today I just may do that for you.... Smile

If it's boring out the stock wastegate, still gets boost spike.

Just noting again, if the plan is to bore out the stock wastegate, fit a bigger flapper and change actuator. It doesn't work, still spikes.

I really do appreciate the feedback, I'll be working an external into the scene.

Why aside from the boost spike are you guys so advers to changing out the down pipe?

Purely the boost spike, if your working an external in, then no worries, shouldn't have a problem. We're against it on the stock set up because piles of people have been advised against doing it, then done it, then come back and asked how to fix the boost spike. My own car has a bored out wastegate with the biggest flapper that can fit, etc. Won't run less than 1.4 Bar with no EBC hooked up, more on cold nights............ Not that I'dd care if I had a fuel system to support such boost -.-

Finaly an answer to the question, thank you very much.
one of the many reports I have heardis that it will work.

But more importantly I just wanted to know if the flange i havein hand will allow me to build my own downpipe. Thanks again
