Just a silly question regarding Boot struts,
when you remotly pop the boot, is it supposed to lift right up?
or, just a little?

silly question i know, but as i have never seen another aristo, i should ask.

i am under the impression that one of my struts was replaced before i took possetion of the car.
as 1 strut holds 30Kg while the other holds 20Kg. and with the kit on the back, the boot lid barely
holds itself up (Ask my head! Sad )

Cheers,

most people's boot and/or bonnet struts are too weak to hold boot lid/bonnet up when they first get their cars.
there's a whole heap of posts about this in another thread.

All my boot and hood struts needed to be replaced, I got the compliance workshop to do it for $50 each. All struts were apparently de-gased, I get the car next week with new struts so I'll be able to tell you then if it pops up.

Don't you need to insert the key into that keyhole and turn to release the lock on the boot?

yeah - you'll need to unlock that button on the inside.. which will then let you open the boot etc..
did it to mine once hehe..
if the key you use doesnt work, you should have another one? which will open everything..
i think its for when valet have the car.. you can lock it up and give them the other key which will basically only open and start the car without unlocking the boot button and glove box etc..

this happened to me, when my aristo was imported they only sent the valet key with the car, i.e. only opens door and ignition.
had to get a new master key cut.

regas cost me $50 - boot opens beautifully now. If fell down on my head one day before I regassed and I swear I saw stars. they are one heavy boot! It's not worth the brain damage fellas - you'd be mad not to get them regassed. While I was there I re-did the foot hand brake strut so all sweet.

How do you get a new master key cut? The previous owner gave me a valet key, so I went to test it. Pressed the Boot release lock in, then they key didn't work. DOH! So what do I do now?
