Hey all. My name is Mohit and I currently drive a Supercharged Mitsubishi Verada. I have gotten the bug for more power so need to find a car that can be used as a better platform for a luxo bruiser (more than what I can do with the Verada).
As such, the hunt to find a TT Aristo began this weekend. So far i've seen 3 cars. 2 of them were absolute shit boxes (one with a really bad clunking gear box). 3rd one i just saw was immaculate.
The seller states it's a 95 built model but the compliance plate states it's a 94 model. The seller says another Aristo he sold was the same deal. Does this seem normal? The car was registered for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Here's the compliance plate and VIN details of the car in question:
While I was checking the boot out I came across what looks like the fuel tank. Is this the normal location for it? I have never seen a fuel tank behind the rear seats in any other car:
Apart from a few scrapes on the front bumper the rest of the car seems to be in very good shape and everything seems to work really well:
I'll call Vicroads tomorrow and see if the VIN and rego match up. If that goes well i'll get the car checked out by a mechanic. If that goes well i'll plonk down the cash for the car. Then i'll have to sell my S/C Verada before the mods can begin _________________
Another two tone....looks neat enough (from the little pics you posted )
Not sure why the seller would claim it's a '95, and the compliance plate list it as a '94
There's actually a table on here somewhere (can't find it atm), that lists the chassis number versus the build month/year....I'll see if I can dig it up.

Do you mind me asking what you're paying for it?
Single pegger too, that'll need fixing
Thanks mate, if you can point me in the direction of the table that would be great.
So the fuel tank location is normal?
If i go ahead with it i'll pay $13K with RWC and 1 year rego. _________________

Mohit - i have seen your thread on AMC ... nice looking verada ... but the RWD TT platform is a much better platform
I went from a Magna to a Supra and now the Aristo ... though you may not recognise me from AMC forums ... don't post a great deal now ... but was there when it started.
oh and yes - Fuel tank is located behind rear seat in the aristo - same as soarer / R33 skyline / mazda 808 ... and many other cars.
Did you get as written report with it that the usual issues have been checked or resolved?
The car hasn't been checked out yet. I first want to check with Vicroads if the Rego matches the VIN. If it does I will organise a mechanical check. BTW, thanks for the table in the earlier post. Looks like it is a 94 build and not a 95 build.

Cheers mate. What's your AMC username? Maybe i will remember who you are.
A few other questions just sprung to mind, hopefully someone can answer them for me:
- what is the capacity of the fuel tank?
- is it ok to run the car on 95 octane or is 98 octane the preferred fuel choice?
- what is the minimum load rating index of the stock tyres? _________________

- 80L
- run 98 octane for sure, or if you can find some 100 then even better
- ummm... ...get yourself some nice 19s _________________

Does the 2JZ-GTE have a knock sensor so it can change the "tune" of the engine based on what octane fuel you are using?
My Verada does not have a knock sensor and has been tuned for 98 octane only so I'm used to the ass reaming I get everytime I pay for a fill up _________________

You can run them on 95....but why would you? I know it may be couple of cents cheaper but if you don't have a supply issue (i.e not a servo near you with 98 ), I'd always go 98.
I put 95 in mine ONCE and that was due to nearly running out andf being out of the metro area where there wasn't any 98. _________________

Nah i was just wondering about the knock sensor if i ever had to fill up with 95. But yeh i will fill up with 98 for sure if i get an Aristo _________________

They do run a knock sensor...in fact I think they run 2 from memory _________________

User name is manual ... i had a 1999 TH 3.5L pushing 196 FWHP a few years back running mid 14's ... was one of the first 10 magna's to run in the 14's.
i remember driving "booya's" magna before he got it turbo charged at MM03 ...
as for fuel - run the 98. but remember the aristo is fuel heavy!! but your running a S/C 3.5L - so i would say it wouldn't be much different.

Oh yeh now i remember, you sold the Magna for a black Supra right?
Couple of other things I noticed with this car today:
- power window switch does not pull window up unless door is closed...normal?
- boot lid closes even if a fly farts on it...worn boot lid struts or normal? _________________

Yeap thats me.
Had the supra for 2.5 years before selling
Power windows only work when closed?? Sounds like dodgy wiring ... but i could be wrong
Mohit incase you didnt know the car is running a open diff as supsension is stock as by the pics including everything else aswell
The struts are supposed to be either regassed or replaced at compliance as shits me when complaince places dont do there work to the letter ! By goodness how rough is the plate near the strut tower as looks like someones dodgy engraving work Pic of how theyre supposed to look.
Could have some potential problems as very unusual with the door having to be closed for the window to go up as checked mine as does it with door open / closed. Could be a knackered reg that mightve been bodged who knows as not uncommon for Aristos to have faulty window regulators.
Car looks clean enough for a stocker as has the obligatory detailed enginebay but not to be to taken by the first couple of cars you checkout mate as there's a very nice two tone in Melbourne on the forums forsale and is in much tidier condition and has some very nice mods to go with it & its sexxy two tone
Jamie.. just for your info.... vic roads doesnt accept the vins stamped on a plate then riveted in... it MUST me on the actual car... hence why they are all just punched in...
im pretty sure its only victoria, as compliance issue it on a plate.. however for vic roads... it means nothing _________________
