Hey guys,

Made a quick post in the intro thread, but just had to ask a question that's really the make or break on my Aristo idea... What's fuel economy like? I think I'll go NA purely because of this (have a pretty crazy AE86 for spirited driving) and am really interested in what people get fuel economy wise in the real world. I'm hoping that an Aristo would get 10-11L / 100km, but yeah, can anyone let me know?

I had a quick search, couldn't find much straight up.

For the sake of science, it'd be good if you could post up the following data when replying...

Year of Aristo: (1991 - 1997)
Induction of 2JZ: (Turbo, Twin Turbo, or NA) [In the case of Turbo'd vehicles, state what turbo/s you're using]
Fuel Economy: (Preferably in Litres per 100km's... being number of litres in a full tank divided by the number of kilometres you get out of it before refill in hundreds of kilometres, eg, if you get 500km out of a 60L tank, the equation would be 60 / 5)
Ratio of City Driving to Highway driving:
Fuel you use:
Modifications that may affect fuel usage:

Thanks guys. Smile

Thanks mate, didn't see that one... but still, could someone maybe post up some naturally aspirated figures? No one in that thread really says if they're GTE or GE...

particularly IS300
2jz in na form
and go from there, i know their cars are a little lighter, but it gives you some indication

Okay, thanks guys. Makes me feel soft going for an NA Auto, but I can't help it, twin turbo fuel economy is the last thing I need in a car at the moment...

Aww well, maybe a GTE transplant is in order when finances get free'd up a bit...

I get 600kms to a full tank of 98/95 give or take on highway driving.. my mate gets the same in his GE supra (SZ) (im GTE) same size fuel tank too i think.. so yea, round town probably 400-450kms but i never fill it up unless im going on long trips so cant confirm.

Each to there own with NA but if youre going to be paying the amount of money id be looking at turbo side of things as the NA would be so boring to drive IMO as another alternative is the AWD V8 but id reckon they'd chew the juice Suprised

With my 96 Aristo on the last 5 fillups ive been averaging 11-11.5L's per 100km and thats with MINES ECU / FMIC and i drive the car like i stole it as it doesnt often getting driven slowly at all...come to think of it never !

As I said, I've got an AE86 for spirited driving, this is purely a daily... that's why I'm not looking at turbo versions! I'd be too tempted to floor it everywhere and upgrade unnessesarily if it was turbo too, heh.

i would look at something smaller for daily driving then

i really doubt that the N/A version would be much more economical to make a real difference

i get about 9-11L/100km on the highway.....the natural habitat of the aristo
then about 16L/100km through the city

Ahh, okay... Thanks Riley... Well that's crap, lol. I'd already fallen in love with the Aristo, and there's nothing like it that's really available. I mean there's the Altezza, but that's not available for import yet, and if it was, it would be around the 20k mark... And honestly, who would go the 1G-GE in the local models? I'd have to consider something not Toyota, and even then, if there's not a Toyota that can fit my bill, chances are nothing else will. The Aristo is a perfect combination of luxury, drivetrain (RWD wins even with an NA 2JZ), size, price and symbolism...

Meh, might just have to figure out a way of cutting a few corners with commuting. Might make it more economical in odd kind of way. My trips to uni are primarily high-way done, so that'd be alright on that side of things, it's just the morning sluggery that I'd need to put up with now and then.

I'm not so convinced that the NA version would be on the same par as the turbo with city driving. Highway driving, sure, but city driving with a very conservative foot should be less than 16L/100km. It is after all, the acceleration level which throws in the turbos, and spooling them up even a bit would guzzle the fuel...

I don't know, I'm just so convinced that everything about the car says "Me", it's just the fuel that's worrying me a bit. Well, increasingly becoming an after-thought since I'm already sold on everything else, but it's still hanging in there. More hunting to be done, I guess.

With my intercooler pipe popped off, I get about the same fuel ecconomy as with it on Razz, just revs revs and revs and goes no where.

Funnily enough, my father today was telling me I should go turbo, for resale value of all things. How odd. Better do the math and see if I can afford the extra dosh I guess... And will have to see if there's a way I can get around the city driving part in the mornings. Have an idea, will trial run it over this week and see if it works...
