well with the way the plates reflect light back in the dark, you may be able to get away with it...also, go fast enough and the pic will blur
as for opaque looking plates, i've seen heaps...they consist of a number plate protector with average plastic and some dust/mud on the inside the worst taht should happen is a cop telling you to clean it. kinda like when a cop tells you for having an out brake light. they shouldnt fine you, but if they see you rolling around with the same issue a week later or somehting, they will ream u for it. _________________

those flares prob wouldnt look as bad if the areas where the screws are were like bogged over making it look like its moulded on rather than bolted.
that rear pic, bigs flares but still small rim/rubber ... _________________
