Just saying hi. I am looking at getting a Aristo TT 1996 from SVI in QLD for 19k. Does this sound reasonable? I got an insurance quote and it is cheaper to insure an Aristo then a 2001 lancer 1.5

You're serious/?? They want to charge you more than ~ $1.2k to insure a 2001 lancer??
Are you sure you told your insurance company it was a 3L twin turbo? That you included the planned mods you would put on it (very) shortly? _________________

Is 19k good or bad? The way I see it 19k isn't too bad as SVI is willing to ship it to my home in Darwin. I have had quotes of 4k to insure my lancer. Mind you it is modified a little bit and I am 19.
Another example: One sold here a while ago, there is an issue with it which is why the seller sold it for less than what it was worth, but has a very unique body kit:

If you like, send through some pics & details on the car and perhaps we can advise you better
1996 TT Aristo Blue Pearl Series 2 The manager has been using it as his own personal vehicle looks tidy enough. He is also willing to pay the 1200 freight cost. The lancer is slammed and has 17 inch rims.
Yeah seriously look at buying from a private sale, you get more for your $$$ in most cases.
Don't be fooled into thinking that you should buy through a dealer because you can get a warrenty (second hand car warrenties are a joke)
private or dealer sale on any import make sure you run a mileage check on the vechile, it's a small price to pay,

Also remember that if its getting near 100k you are up for a lot of $$$$ factor in several grand unless you purchase the parts from os..
They are in QLD I am in NT warranty would be null and void any way. I am more thinking freight. Easier to get a company that does it all the time then do it myself (it's not that i am lazy but I would rather get the car in one piece and not have to run around and hassle the seller). I have a dealer called Supamerc in QLD who have a 1996 Aristo TT and it has a 3 inch exhaust as well as a few other mods (wheels, boost gauge etc). He also is willing to ship it to Darwin for me. Looks good and its only 17k. The company deal with ferraris and bmws etc so seems OK
I have a dealer friend so I know the profit margins are fairly huge. 17k isnt too bad for me. I want a car not hassles. At least if it is in a dealer there is no hidden costs and no problems *cough*. The dealer at supermerc has been driving the aristo himself and thinks it peaks at 21 psi *cough*
Not to sure. This seems like a mistake but I am determined to get burnt it seems. I have a 1987 Honda that doesnt work. A 2001 lancer with stuffed suspension and bad paint. and soon an unknown aristo. I live in Darwin so it is not like I can go and see the car in person. It does have 75k kms on it so I wont have to worry about the huge 100k service assuming it is legitimate. The dealership owner drives the car (or so he tells me) and they do sell ferraris and such. I am thinking maybe just do it and hope for the best then complain on forums about getting a bad deal (joking)

Freight to Darwin from Brisbane should only be about a grand. Bear in mind that you will probably do some damage to the wheel bearings if you truck it that far though because the bearing sits in one position while the truck bounces up and down on the excellent interstate highways we have in Aus. The damage is called False Brinelling.
That car is way too expensive unless you feel like giving the dealer an easy 6 grand. Mine is a 1994 grade 4.5. Landed & complied it will owe me 10,300. Granted I got an excellent deal but you get the drift? There are people out there (and on this board) that will buy you a car, land and comply & ship it to you for a flat fee. I do not want to say too much about that dealer you mentioned buying from but beware that a LOT of these guys inflate shipping, compliance and even import duties & taxes to make an unfair margin on so called agency purchases. Only deal with someone prepared to give you the ORIGINAL documents from buying the car right through to compliance.
Well mate Rampant is a sponsor of these forums. You can give them a list of things you want in a car, and a budget, and they can find you the car you want.
In fact they have a few that just arrived, you never know one of those might be suitable.
I already posted a link to 2JZNOSHT's Aristo, its super tidy, has been in car shows, has rims worth many thousands, and its for sale right now
Phoned aaron @ rampant. I must say he is the nicest person I have spoken to in a while and he has given me some good advice. Should be a car dealer, would make a killing. Now it is up to my bank to give me a loan

COUGH!
COUGH!
COUGH!
Need I cough anymore!
On a more positive note: if it's here and being driven then you have some of the uncertainty removed. This is probably what you are paying the premium price for.
I imported my car (through an agent) before Christmas. 1996, Series 2, black, immaculate, everything works and its spotless inside and out, a Grade 4B. Your agent will do the best he/she can for the $$$$ you have - it's in their interests that you are H A P P Y! You will get an Auction Report, photos, and good advice. It's up to you whether you take it and run with it.
