on my sheet that comes with the car saying what has been done re: compliance it says '61/02 compliance plate fitted on passenger side 'b' pillar.

for the life of me i just cant find this at all!!

from what i can see in the little owners manual it is meant to be at the passenger front door just underneath the lock latch.

have these stooges forgotten to attach probably THE most import part of compliance or what?

the drivers strut tower is stamped with the new number, but no plate!!

Weird man, that label has to be there for it to pass registration... they look at it to get the numbers during initial rego.

I guess?

Yeah mine the very first thing they did (after asking me if it was a first-time registration) was open the passenger door and read the number off the purple bit.
As far as i'm aware, that's the exact thing they wait 4 weeks ex canberra for.

After what youve been through.. i would rent a big truck /hummer/something really really big/buy a cheap tractor (you get the point (w/full coverage insurance) and drive through the compliance shops office door! Mad

its just been one thing after another.

Whatsmore, when i was driving home after picking it up, i made sure i chucked on the A/C to make sure it was working, and it just felt like normal air. looked at the canister viewing window thing and its totally clear.. that means empty doesn't it?

total PAIN IN THE ASS. i just don't have time to fuck around with this shit. he is a good 40 minutes away from where i live, and ive paid for all this rubbish already.

people are saying 'at least you have the car now'... but id fucking rather not have it. I can only take one day off work to get everything i need done (and that is rwc and vic roads booking), and now it looks like i have to add to that list getting the comp plate and getting the a/c done (and im sure he sends it somewhere to get done anyway) which is no where near where i was getting the rwc or the vic roads booking will/would be.

100% normal. Cars must be de-gassed in Japan before they come here. Re-gassing is not part of compliance. I only just got my car done the other day, had a new drier installed (the bit you were looking at the glass inspection bit).

ok, i just assumed it was part of something they did, just assumed they were the ones that emptied it.

Thats fine, i can get it sorted cheap then. Makes it easier to sort out seeing i just need him to stamp the comp plate on (if he stops screening his calls and calls me back that is.... otherwise he will be getting a visit from a mate who lives near by, and he doesn't want that!)

yeah you must pay a ozone levy if the car is over 1996 so you can bring the car in with gas in the aircon system.
If your car is over 1996 and doesnt have gas and you didnt get charged, then the compliance workshop doesnt have to do a thing.]

PS - the compliance plate is not actually a plate anymore. Its a sticker. Dont try and peel it off though, because it will come up with VOID all over it.

When I got my blue slip the guy did not look at the car at all - just looked out the window at it for a second. That was it. Then he did all the paper work up in ten minutes and over $100 later I was on my way, blue slip in hand.
Not quite as bad as you but still a little dodge.

Mine wasn't either - it's V E R Y C O L D! You pay a Levy to not have it degassed (if your car is 1996 or newer model).

...mines a 1992... Confused

was mine maybe regassed when it was complied?

I paid a levy though, I think?

I was told your car had to be post-1996 to be eligible but maybe it might have something to do with the new environmentally-friendly HFC134A modern systems use. My '96 has that sticker on it.

What was your levy payment? approx. $50?
