Sooo I'm not allowed to say "Don't go to River City as they couldn't organise a fuck with a fistfull of fifties..." but I can state the facts?
Ok the facts are:
They told me two weeks, it took seven.
They called me to come pick the car up at 1100 Friday, I got there at 12. And ...
1. The battery was flat (even though they'd apparently driven the car from their other workshop that morning!? All the doors were ajar when I arrived, possibly the cause of the flat battery, I charged up the old battery fine when I got home)
2. The original tyres they promised to return to me, as they were my propery, were nowhere to be seen (I had new rubber put on by their associate). I still don't know where they are. Perhaps they on-sold them?
3. The side skirts were removed and stuffed inside the car (a process which involved scratching my glovebox and breaking my aircon vents)
4. They hadn't even put the compliance plates on the car, and
5. They 'forgot' to get a fucking roadworthy!
Not bad for 7 weeks work. Car's ready mate! Come pick it up! Ffs!
So on top of my $3k compliance that took 7 weeks, I had to pay them $200 for a new battery, and an additional $55 to the mob up the road for a roadworthy that I'd already paid River City for! In addition I had the opportunity to run around last thing on a friday afternoon trying to get a roadworthy because River City "forgot". That's no way to run a fucking business!
Also, they didn't put the rear seat back in properly, they tore the carpets out removing the seat and left them out, and bolts were missing too. The side indicator install was a complete abortion, a five-year-old could have done a better job, but that's a story for another post. The stereo went missing, but the import process makes that deliberatly hard to pin on anyone. I'm still in the process of going over the vehicle, and I wont be surprised to find more dodgy compliance issues, but fingers crossed I wont.
People have to stop putting up with this sort of shit! That's why it keeps going on!
Oh and perhaps instead of school kids from internet forums, River City should employ some mechanics? Food for thought
Maybe you should actually have a word with me instead of stating crap. I dont even know your name or your car.
1. battery flat - stiff shit, not our fault. Yeah we jump start cars and drive them from other workshops. Its up to you if you want a new battery or not and we couldnt have charged you $200 for a battery, usually they're around $130ish like most places.
2. tyers- dont be a tool. Why would we want to keep your tyres. For a fact we have to pay to have them detroyed, so its in our best interest to give them back to you.
3. sideskirts - i dont even know what car you are talking about? i have NO knowledge of any car having the skirts put in the car. We ALWAYS leave them out the back waiting for you to pick them up.
4. Compliance plate - This is most likely because you arrived AFTER we had closed for the holidays. If the plate arrives after we're shut, and we come in to allow you to pick up the car IN OUR OWN TIME, forgive us for thinking you would give a crap by waiting 5 minutes for us to install the plate.
5. Roadworthy - again, dont know what car it is. We always organise a roady straight after speaking to the client, so Im not sure how your car got missed? and by the way , ITS NOT OUR JOB TO ORGANISE ONE! If you ask for one, then we can go out of our way to get one for you, but we do have 40 other cars to look after.
6. Compliance time frame - ALL of our cars get complied within a week of arriving. We have 30-40 cars at the workshop all complied waiting on plates. Its NOT our fault if dotars dont release your car for plating in the expected time frame. God, some people have waited 2-3months. NOT OUR FAULT!

Seriously mate, you are talking out of your ass. Why would we bother "stealing" your tyes and stereo to sell them? the amount of money you'd get for them makes it pointless to even bother.
I personally take photos of each car that arrives (as long as im there when it does) so i can assure you and anyone else on what exaclty came with the car and what damage it has when it gets to us.
My apologies if something has gone wrong, but i recon you're just complaining because you can. Im sure you havent even contacted the office to discuss it further. Rather you are the "school kid from internet forums" posting up crap.

This was earlier this year, hopefully the Compliancer have their act together now ... but that is exactly what happened with my car. Perhaps my post was hard to understand, I'll try to explain further:
I'm not being slanderous, these are the FACTS, and without embellishment (I will confirm the battery price). The fact is I was told after a 7 week wait that the car was ready to be picked up, and it was not even close. Further adding insult to injury. (Ok if this were a performance workshop performing difficult custom I could completely justify the delays, but this is not, it is a compliance workshop doing volume work)
Why would the Compliancer want to keep my old tyres? they probably didn't, but they're so disorganised that's what happened. When I enquired how the tyres would be returned I was told the Complancer 'always puts down a sheet' on the rear seat of the car, and that's what would happen in my case. I'd never heard of a compliancer doing this either? But from then on I expected this would happen. I stated I wanted the tyres returned every time I spoke to the Compliancer...
Sideskirts were definately in the car, I was expected to drive away with them like that! There is no mistake, I had to hold them from moving about while driving the car.
The compliance plate arrived after they were shut? It was midday Friday and the Compliancer was definately 'open' to me. Other employees were seemingly present and working, they'd be fools to come and work in their own time would they not?
The roadworthy was missed, and I was told it was 'forgotten'. Maybe they need a checklist so they don't miss seemingly obvious steps of the process, steps I paid for too. I always understood this to be part of their asking price, as I was told the car would be ready to take to QLD transport.
Compliance plate timings are quite possibly not the Compliancer's fault. However, even though I was not in a hurry (I was told it was at most a three week process) I kept ringing and dropping in to check the progress of the car (I was genuinely interested of course!) After being told the car could not be complianced due to some sort of warehouse shuffle problem (wholly a compliancer issue) for the first three weeks I started checking in more frequently. I was told the car was in various stages of compliance and then after week four I was told it was awaiting a compliance plate, that would arrive early in the next week. I realise this time period was wholly out of the Compliancers hands, but at the end of the sixth week I approached the Compliancer again and spoke to their 'office' once more. The 'office' checked the list of plates currently being waited on from the DOTARS mob and told me straight out mine had not yet been submitted! It was then submitted and arrived less than four working days later.
Five Minutes to attach the compliance plate, yes, that's not long at all. However I arrived at 1200 and didn't leave until 1430 (off to get a fucking roadworthy) and the Compliancer wasn't waiting for me at any stage ... Battery flat is nobody's direct fault, I agree. But when you are told the vehicle is ready to be picked up, you expect that the car needs fuel at best, and off you go. The Compliancer acted surprised that the battery was flat, granted, but you'd expect a vehicular workshop to be somewhat aware this sort of thing happening frequently. The 'it's not our job' mentality certainly wont win you customers or respect.
Perhaps sbyder should re-read my statement about the carpets, as i did not state the carpets were torn, that they were torn OUT. I understand how he may have misread this however, as I've inspected his car and I am well aware of his attention to detail.

Sbyder's statement is entirely correct, I have not spoken at length to the office about the issues I have with my compliance, but my importer is well aware of it, and I offer the information freely to anyone else who may wish to go through the process. What would further speaking to the office gain? At best a discount, which doesn't help anyone but me. What happened, happened, and the facts will remain the same. Perhaps others will know what to look out for.
This is the sort of shit that goes on. Now I'm not saying that all these things will happen to everyone, but for this many items to go wrong, obviously the problem is systemic due to a complete lack of skill, organisation, and any sort of business sense.

That's fairly pedestrian as far as compliance BS goes. I had a Delica show up at one of my mechanics last week from a major importer in Brisbane (no names sorry) that still had a japanese oil filter fitted - that wasn't all either, no witness marks that anything had been removed or checked. Basically had a sticker attached and sent on the yard for sale.
