Nerp.
Sorry Chappo, that's the wrong one mate.
The reverse buzzer and the door buzzer are different... I'm yet to look, but also want to track down that door buzzer and remove it as well. Getting rid of the reverse one was well worth the effort of pulling the dash!!
Anyone found it and pulled it yet? _________________

When vacuuming out the car I like to listen to music and quite usually I've got the drivers door open too. I would love to get rid of the ding ding noise as it drives me crazy!!
It is in the drivers kick panel somewhere but I've been having trouble trying to find the actual place the damn ding is coming from.
if u can, try finding a little vent hole in the area, should be size of a 20 cent piece and its it slatted,
alot of jap cars have this and this is the thing that goes ding ding ding ding

OK. I don't often give up. So when I do I have good reason to!
I believe that the chime is located within the fuse enclosure under the dash. It took me ages to work it out! The dam thing is really hard to locate where the sound is coming from. The problem is trying to unplug all the looms and you have to remove all the control units first and then you have to actually remove the box from the car!
I hope someone can prove me wrong, but I am pretty sure on this one.
I have got so close but ready to give up. There is too much risk of breaking something in my opinion.
NOT WORTH THE EFFORT!!!!!!
I am going to have a rest and then start putting it all back together.

Definately given up on this mod. It seems that the dinger ( ) is just too hard to get to. I was not willing to risk damaging the main wiring loom on this one.
It looks like the fuse box thing has to come out and it is impossible to see how the wiring goes in at the top in order to disconnect it.
I agree, it shits me too....but a really hard one.
drives in insane too.. but i just turn the music up (espically when i am cleaning the car) or close the door
Or - take the keys out all together! _________________
well guys i got some info, i think from soarer,
but should be exact!
...Pull off the very botttom piece of dash assembly, way underneath the steering wheel by removing 3
screws and the Footwell Light and the Diagnostics port. (both just pop out)
Next pull back the carpet, away from the side of the footwell and bend the hard white plastic way over so
that it slides underneath the throttle pedal.
Now you should be able to see the large "relay / multicore / fuse board"
The Chime Box is behind the fuse board,(between the inside of the Fender and Board) if you put your
fingers around the front end of the board you will feel the cigarette pack sized box on the back of it. If you
put pressure on the box you will hear the Chime change in Tone and you should also be able feel the box
vibrating slightly. It is Brown in colour. (Baby Poo Brown)
Grab your 10mm socket and super extension, and look way down the bottom of the fuse/relay/multi' board
and you will see two bolts. Undo 'em !!!! Now pull your head out of that damn footwell for a minute, have
a rest and drink some Beer. (corona preferably)
Okay, here's the clincher ..... kneel down so that you are facing forward looking at the fuse/relay/multi
board and the inside of the fender ....... and using two BIG, LONG, Flathead Screwdrivers, gently prise the
multi board up (with the first one) BE CAREFUL (like a cat flap!!) from the bottom, not too far, just
enough so that you can slide the other screwdriver in to get at the side of the Brown Chime Box. Once you
get some movement out of the Box get back down in the footwell and try to lever it out with your fingers
by reaching around the very front of the multi board, it is secured by a long plug which is part of the Box
Housing, just pop it out. There is also a multi wire plug involved but that is obvious once the Box pops out.
I removed a heap of the relays and plugs from the multi board which made things easier, also I had the
entire "underdash" off as well, as I was bypassing the Valet Lockout at the time.
Best advice is to have as much room as possible to see and work, otherwise its just too frustrating.
I Suppose one could remove the chime from the circuit board inside the Box, and replace the Unit so that it
thinks it Chiming away but isnt !!!!! ... I'm just going to leave it out altogether and see what happens
.........
I hope I havn't upset anyone by posting this, as obviously It has been a HUGE ANNOYANCE to us all for
a very long time, and perhaps there is an argument of grave importance against removing it, which has led
to the supression of the info relating to "The Fix".
I have to wonder because each and every other Fix, Tweak, Wangle, Tangle and Spangle is plastered all
over the place !!!!!!
Anyhow; I know you all take great care working your cars and obviously any "Fix" is embarked on at your
own risk etc....etc ..... !!!
