Just wondering who here has experienced the UZS143? Is it any good, and how does it compare to the 2JZGTE model?

I'm looking at adding another vehicle to stables in the near future, to serve only as a daily workhorse. Havent decided on what model yet, but the UZS143 is starting to tickle my fancy.

I wouldn't mind one either. I don't care much for handling, and would like the airbag suspension so I can drive the car at the height I want, but be able to pump it up for car parks.

I guess the biggest down side is that (like almost all turbo cars) there is lots of potential for low cost. I know I wouldn't be happy with the V8's power as is, and I don't think the C's supercharger would cut it for me either, I have seen dyno graphs of a active Soarer with one and it only had around 190kW at the wheels.

A centrifugal blower would probably be the best bet, I've followed a LS400 twin turbo setup, but I dunno how that would go with the 4WD system on the Aristo.

Anyway enough of me, as a daily you'd probably love it Smile

There's 1 or 2 in the UK that are known off.

Wouldn't mind one, but would seem slow to the 2JZ, and probably less economical, and possible future faults with the airbag system and 4wd would worry me, so would always pick the 2JZ, if it was an attraction to the V8 I'd have the LS for a daily driver. Can't remember what you guys call it, is it the Crown??

oh, the LS400 is also the toyota celsior... most of the ones here are pretty long in the tooth, as a large part are 1989 models (due to import laws).

thanks for the input chaps.

Ok, im probly best to answer this.
Having driven quite a few stock JZS147's turbo and NA and UZS143's.

All 3 are completely different cars in terms of performance.

2JZGTE has balls through to redline.
2JZGE has more response, but really lacks a punch in the back in the high rpm.
1UZFE is responsive, sounds nice but is the slowest of the pack.

The v8 is really not worth it in the long run. Pay more for rego and insurance (at least in QLD we do), dont go as fast as any of the other models and has a tendancy to act like a boat, much like the UZZ31 soarer, but with more weight (4x4 system).

2 Pro's for the V8 is the emense realiability of the engine, with only the powersteering pump its main weakness and obviously the sound. You cannot get a smoother crisper v8 noise. Of course, the expensive Ferrari's are exempt from the list Razz

If you're after a daily driver, get a 4cylinder hatch back or something. Speaking of which, we are the 1st workshop in the country to have compliance for the VZ-R 2Door pulsar! 1.6litres, 130KW VERY nice car to drive and extremely happy to rev all the way to 8000rpm. Dont tell me "its just a 2door SSS" because its emensly different. I'd rather one of these things than an EP3 Type R.
Its soo good i might even buy my own. 1st non toyota car in 16 that ive owned in 6 years.

Heres one! http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/index.php?ID=11625

Ben

Thanks for the input Ben - it is something i will take on board. I'm surprised to hear that the V8 is slower than the NA 2J!!

The new addition to the stables will be replacing my '94 honda civic VTi. we're after something with a little more balls - doesnt have to be fast, but at least have some grunt on tap (without having to rev the balls off it) and everyday driveability... oh, and must be auto, which rules out the pulsar

Other models of consideration are a galant vr4, or maybe an NA R34 skyline.

dont laugh, someone just brought a auto EVO 7 to us yesterday....

GTA LOL

Dont get an automatic legnum/galant. It would be the worse thing you could do.

Get a NA Auto supra for around 6K, and landed for 12K. Cheap, fairly economical and looks the goods.
