Hi all,

I am in the market for an Aristo, and when chatting to Aaron he told me of a couple of slight changes in Tail lights and rear bumper from 94 to 95.

I've searched the forums and stickies(which is a bit hard, cause you can't search titles only) and the net, but have been unable to find anything specific.

So as I understand the taillights have a chrome strip around them, and the rear bumper is a bit longer(both these differences I have now seen in photos).

Were there any other changes to exterior, interior or mechanical\suspension\brakes over the years?
If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Also if enough info is gathered here, I'm sure it would be a very handy sticky.

Thanks
Sam

In addition to what you have listed:

Later models:
- have passenger airbag
- do not have retracting wheel on / off button
- do not have side mirror piezo water droplet shakers
- do not have heated side mirrors
- do not have remote entry on/off switch
- have cup holders

Pretty sure that is right perhaps somebody with a later one can confirm 100%

Thank Aristo,

That thread has what I'm after.

Can anyone confirm early 94 is the change over?

i dont think there is much to concern yourself with really. the aristo is not like other cars where there were huge upgrades throughout the years. the best thing about the 2nd series is the cupholders!

black was not a standard colour in series 1. It became available in series 2. also, im not sure if its just me or not, but a larger percentage of hte series 2 models seem to have leather and sunroof, while the earlier ones seem to be more povo pack?

I have a series 2 and mine is a 93.

So i think the change over was late in 93 somewhere.

We believe there apparantly was a 'pov pack' (excuse the term) throughout which came with no cruise control, maybe there were other usually standard options that this pov pack came without?

have to wait for it to get here to see what else it does/doesnt have.

i can see in a photo but that there is only one throttle cable, so that will mean no cruise (which is good, one less thing to fuck up as ive never liked or used cruise in any car ive owned with it), but has a sunroof?!

so POV pack series 2 =

no airbag
no cruise
no lsd
cloth trim

but the bloke out of the factory must have liked the wind blowing in his hair and ticked the sunroof box LOL

works for me Smile no lsd = the balls but

LSD, sunroof & leather all options in all models. So it would seem that the pov pack gets no cruise, no passenger airbag, no airpuri.

You never know that model might have been several thousand cheaper, but the guy loved a sunroof.

is there any online 'vin' checker so as i can check the exact year of my car based off the jap vin number or any other numbers on the vin tag.

also, ive been thinking it was a june '96 for some reason when in actual fact its a june '95! (rusty P FTW on knowing far too much about when and what aristos came with LOL)

it also seems that the car may have NO AIRBAG AT ALL, and looking back at the yahoo auction write up, it could be the case! (i just assumed they all did!)

also, in a note that i dont remember reading before it says "August 1994 MC outlined in the全車in the front grille, bumper, RIAKONBINESHONRANPU to change the appearance of a more expensive by directing " (with its best foxlingo translation).. what would that mean? (i think its just a generic slab about the bumper updates at that year, as it also mentions the air puri, which the car clearly doesnt appear to have.

Anyone know why the newer models would have the below removed? were they just not popular features of the car or something?

- do not have retracting wheel on / off button
- do not have side mirror piezo water droplet shakers
- do not have heated side mirrors
- do not have remote entry on/off switch

It's not unusual for small gimicks to be removed from cars as the years go on, to assist in minimising price rises, make the car more simple, etc.

The later Mitsubishi GTO's were stripped of their electronic exhausts and adjustable shock absorbers, for example.

If you have a copy of the EPC you can type in the VIN and it will come back and tell you exact month/year.

If you do not have it feel free to pm me the vin and i will check for you.

Hey guys I had a 1993 BLACK aristo about a year ago....FACTORY BLACK. I know this because I repainted the front bar using the toyota paint code from the build tag. Paint systems in panel shops don't lie.
