Hi all. I'm about a week and a half into Aristo ownership and loving it!

There's a few nooby questions I've got about the car:

1. When I turn off the engine, the seatbelts shudder - Like someone quickly pulled them.
Is this some sort of 'make sure the seatbelts are where they should be' feature? or something to do with checking to see if the seatbelt is done up? or something completely different?

2. When I brake, quite often I feel a mechanical vibration through the pedal (like something moving into/out of place). It usually takes place a little time after I brake. I've got no idea what this could be.

3. What does this button do? I've quickly sketched the icon that lights up on the button.

I've yet to see photos of an Aristo with this button in the center. It makes a beep when you switch it on and the light comes on above it but that's it. As far as I can tell, nothing feels like it changes.

A/M horn button?
LOL..... i had some weird switch in my car and couldnt figure out what it was..
but ended up working out that its a switch to go between some boat fog horn to a std sounding horn! lol...

as for the brakes - i can feel and hear in my pedal some mechanical motors running now and then..
apparently i've been told/read as well that its the breaks pumping up/priming to get ready for them again...
Confused
Do you hear a mechanical sound aswell? like little motors running?

1. Seatbelt shudder is very strange. There is no motor contained in them. Only the locking mechanism which is only used in sudden deceleration.

2. Brake shudder is caused by warped discs, get them machined and/or replaced.

3. The switch is aftermarket. You'd have to trace the wires.

He didnt say it was brake shudder??
Just said that he could feel mechanical vibrations through the pedal a little after he had braked!

I get the brake pedal vibration too and as Jodes has said there's been some discussion about the nitrogen brake assist system:

http://www.jzs147.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=137

(btw I also get brake shudder so therefore probably warped discs and I'm glad I'm getting them replaced with the brake upgrade)

The button in the center, I thought that was the air puri Confused I don't have one so *shrug*

seat belt shudder - nfi

That's definately it!

Chickita - I'll try tooting the horn with the switch on, it could be the same thing.

Still not unsure about the reasons for seatbelt shudder - Anyone?

I'm getting some tinting done today, so should have some ride photos up shortly Smile

have you ever driven a car with abs before? a little feedback could be from that. or as said, old discs that need to be machined.

I cant see how it would be the disc's that need machining?
Its a mechanical vibration coming through the pedal after breaking!

All the Aristo's I have been in do this. I don't know the exact reason, but what it does is increase the tension on the coil & make the seat belt want to retract with more force. I think it means that the seatbelt doesn't pull on you or your clothes when you drive, but has enough tension to recoil properly when you have arrived.

As others have mentioned the Aristo has an eletronic brake booster, with a pump that pressuirises a nitrogen canister. That in turn is used to provide assistance, compared to a traditional vacuum booster.

Aftermarket button, not OEM equipment. Could be spot lights, could be anything.

Could be to turn on the flux capacitor, or the car might be an ex-Brock special, in which case it turns on the polariser [RIP Peter].

I've got a switch in the same location that looks identical to that one.

When switched a "Green glowing rod" comes out of the left of the front bumper to help you tell were the corner of the car is.
