Am chasing a 12 point star head on a 1/2" drive socket to connect to an air gun so I can remove the centre piece of my jap rims not the cap the actual centre of the rim they are a 3 piece design. Does anyone have any idea of shops around brisbane area that might stock something like this? SO far I have been to a bolt shop, autobarn, repco trade tools and a wheel repairer who said he was able to take them apart but would charge an arm and a leg 65 a rim to take the bolts off and put them back together. Does any one have any other ideas, surely the correct size tool is available to the public, unless japan has some magic sizes for their wheel nuts

What size?

Repco have a hex head set that contains about 24 different hex and star shaped sockets.

the size is the problem I am unsure, want to be able to test it to make sure it is a good fit. Might have to try another repco shop if that's the case. At this stage I am taking it into all the shops and test fitting. Came close at trade tools with an air gun connection in a M8 but just too large and that's all they had in the shop. i was expecting like 15 a rim to pull them apart but $65 a rim to take apart and back together no thanks can't be that hard just a nut afterall

I picked up the set and some loctite for $24 yesterday..

List price was around $20 just for the hex set alone.

Pretty sure they are.

Rusty was using them to disassemble his wheels.

Yeah 12pt doublehex shape. I think 8 or 10mm was the size I was using. Perfect for dissembling jap rims..
I couldn't find the fkn things anywhere. Closest I found was a star shaped bit that ended up stripping one of the bolts as it was just not a tight enough fit.. but Chappo had an old set from godknowswhere that fit perfectly.. where did you get this set anyway??

It's Spline type Hex that you are looking for.

A spline is what Toyota use for the head bolts.
