As above looking for a lawyer or if anyone knows of a good one. The last workshop that damaged my car whils tin their care has offered me a refund for a fraction of the amount of damage and as such will be taking the matter further through QCAT. Am looking at gettign a professional letter drafted from a legal office to declare my intent to lodge my case through the courts so if anyone is a lawyer or knows a good one that deals in consumer and trade law that would be great

already done the office of fair trading they can't force a ruling the trader offered to refund me $270, will send them one final letter stating my intent to file with QCAT on a given date if they do not come to an acceptable arrangment. Small claims is cheap and the legislation is clear that services provided need to be carried out with due care and skill neither of which occurred so am prepared to go the distance

Quite easy to do a up a letter of demand mate, went thru this whole small claims (allthough mine was in the NSW system) thing myself about a year ago. Be prepared for a long haul it was almost a year before I had my day in court. Hopefully if you do up a good letter of demand, they will see how serious you are and just deal with it and pay you straight away. _________________

Did you sign any job card before you dropped the car off?
If so they usually have a disclaimer about damage not being their responsibility.
Maybe something to think about before getting a lawyer.

Nope have never heard of this disclaimer and all services are bound by consumer law anyway legislation states that services contracted need to be performed with due care and skill neither of which was provided. GT AUTO Garage would not take your car there if I was you steer well clear
a multitude of problems have got most of them fixed now at my own cost and am trying to recoup the money from them for there incompetence

am awaiting another quote for paint repairs as I am away for work. Will go to a few more shops once I am back in town before I send the letter away
they damaged foglight
chipped paint off front bumper
stopped second turbo from boosting
charged me for dyno tuning and fitting of boost controllers even though their fitment of these caused second turbo to not work
I busted them scraping my car down when I went to visit them one day on the way out of the driveway
Charged me for fitting boost gauge only to not even wire up power to it after they dropped it and broke it so they ordered me a new one
installed intercooler worng so it was hard pressed against reo bar
they broke the tabs off the front bar so it doesn't fit properly any more has a large gap
took them way longer to get my car back as everytime it was suppose to go on the dyno they somehow had someone elses car on there
no dyno printouts after asking multiple times
New mechanic said they zip tied the plastic undertray back on rather than using the factory clips
plus the work was slapped together and bolts were missing
Just a bunch of muppets really
Don't have all my info on me as I am away for work but wil be more than 1K

i would honestly move on... wouldnt be worth the hassle imo
Alot of that you wont be able to prove (foglight/chipped bar/broken clips (old car, things break)
Wont get any compensation for there poor workmanship
were they given a chance to rectify any of there faults? as im pretty sure to get any compensation they need to be given the opportunity to rectify the faults
