Some people have warned me against using 316 instead of 304 for intercooler piping can't exactly remeber why but from my research I don't see much difference between the two except for the fact that 316 is more expensive, they have very similar tensile strength as well as service temperature, hardness, etc.
Any one see any problems with using 316 instead of 304 apart from it costing more? I already have some 316 so cost isn't an issue
Worked for Sandvik for 5 yrs cutting stainless, not a huge dif between 304/316,not sure who told you 316 is no good but it should be fine, just make sure to use 316 rods if tig welding at any stage _________________

316 is a higher grade of stainless, its perfectly good for intercooler piping though it will cost alot more for the basic materials. But if you've allready got everything you need, then this is obviously not going to be a situation for you. _________________
