Good brand of tools

Looking at buying some new tools or preferrably a nice kit in a nice tool chest. So many brands out there nowadays just wondering what brand people recommend and or use. Am just looking for a set for the home, but don't want cheap crap either. Was thinking either sidcrome or kincrome at this stage

Ive got a Koken socket set, kinchrome riveters, snap on and sidchrome shifters. All good stuff. Fuller is OK but wouldn't bother about their sockets now days. Same with Stanley, stuffs pretty cheap for a reason. Most of the Japanese and Korean stuff is high quality at the mo due to them producing the best stainless steel to make it from

generally anything with a Lifetime warranty is Good Stuff Kinchrome, SidChrome and Stanley!!!

i've noticed that kinchrome's quality has slipped a little. prefer to have sidchrome or stahlwille

In Australia, i have mostly Snap-On with a spattering of Kingcrome. some Japanese specialist tools and a set of Sidchrome ratchet spanners.

Here in Japan, I have a great choice of Japanese made tools which cost more than double - in some cases four times the amount on Australian shop shelves. I have pretty much stuck with KTC (Kyoto Tool Company), as they are very well priced here and what I would consider to be as good, if not better than my Snap-On stuff sitting in a non-disclosed location back home. Very Happy

I refuse to buy a tool made in China or Taiwan unless it is going to be a 'throw away'.

I highly recommend a particular Bahco kit. It retails for around $250-, comes with the most common tools you need including some impact sockets, and is housed in its own plastic case. (model # S87+7)

KC tools for me, as far as I can see they are un-chromed Kin Chrome?

I don't mind the china stuff, china spec ratchet got my crank-bolt off - along with 2m breaker bar!

Have never been able to break or stress my sidchrome, Stanley and Super cheaps lifetime warranty range; Super Works Gold and Calibre. Both those are made by Stanley, which in turn are owned and made by Sidchrome.
