dont flame me for this lads...i know this has been talked about "in depth" ....BUT....if you do the search thing, you CAN find workshops / members in OTHER states , that would take their car BACK to them, in a heartbeat ! or know their shit with tuning a 2J...!
NOT SO IN QLD / BRIZZY AREA ! in fact all i can find is workshops that WILL bend you over in a heartbeat !!

my car got f&%ked up...with a "dyno tune" and has never been the same since..... Mad

has any member around the brizzy /qld area had work done , and was "HAPPY" when they picked it up and paid the bill...???????????
dont need a dyno . just need a good 2j tuner to sort my (idle . tps . and associated factory adjustments )
which were ALL played with when i got my "dyno" done... Sad

i will be taking the opportunity to talk to the lads , on this sundays meet...!!! Smile NICK . Dunno

Hey Nick im pretty much in the same boat mate, looking for a good mechanic/tuner in brissie, southside would be nice.Got my 100k km service coming up in the next 6 months and looking for guy that knows the 2jz well.

The big companies up here are dear from what ive heard but feedback on if they are good would be sweet, eg Millennium-motorsports and Mercury Motorsport.

Will get a chance to chat about it on Sunday mate on the cruise Very Happy

Nick

I took my car to top rpm motorsport at arundel after I got the single put on. Still gotta take the car back to be tuned on high boost, but from everything that he has done so far it seems like he has done quite a good job. He has had heaps of experience with 2j's and he actually now owns the old Titan motorsport drag celica. I was having the same problem with u mate, I was struggling to find a good tuner, but I'm pretty confident I found a good one. I can chat to u bout it more on the weekend if u like mate.

The only other person on the coast that I know of who is meant to be a bit of a 2j guru is Pitts. But from what I've been told, he is quite exxy

pitts - expensive but have only ever heard very good things. guru in tuning.
101 - may take my car most prob either here (i personally know the owner ) or
gt auto - may take my car here - is a little expensive though.

im leaning towards 101 and so is my brother to get stuff done on his car

I recomend Hi Power racing at springwood. I havnt taken my 147 there yet, but when i took my skyline there in peices after i lost interest in finishing it, it only took them a few days to fix a few things put it back together and dyno it. There car was better than ever and never skipped a beat. Ivan, the guy that runs the place is really cool too.

I go to GT Auto garage, but after Newbies problems with them over something that should have been a simple install I have lost faith in them.

I used to go to Advanced Performance Centre with my other car and they were good. From all accounts they have worked on a lot of 2jz's. Don't know what they're like now though.

Supra guys are reporting JW Mechanical & Godzilla motorsports as two good shops. Pitty both are out of my way.

I'm sure all workshops stuff up every now and then but it would be good to find one that didn't pretend that they're experts on a particular engine.

this is the thing though "silversleeper"..!! when you are getting charged anything from $100 a hour UP
for engine work . or any car related work for that matter.... there IS NO room for error AT ALL..!!
ok......everyone has a "bad" day now and again.... Nervous in which case...you charge nothing , cause it is not right. or you could not fix the problem , the car came in with ! (its not rocket science..? ) Suprised

I am also from the brissy southside area and I'm looking for a good tuner to do some work on my aristo. Have called a few today including Avance Performance Centre and they wanted to charge me 4500 to fit and tune a haltech. I did tell them my car is stock standard apart from exhaust and air filter and I would be happy to just fit an haltech interceptor at wich point they told me it was a waste of time and they would only want to fit a full stand alone ecu when all I wanted was to be able to wind the boost up and fit a front mount. Just seemed like they were not Intrested unless I wanted to spend large money. I'm only a newbie when it comes to all this so I could well be mistaken but it seemed quite deer and they were just trying to get me to spend money! As I said I'm a complete newbie and I am most probly wrong but is this good advice ? And is this what it costs ?

4.5 grand is well and truly being ripped. I think mine was around the low 3s for a ps2000, fitting and dyno.

Nick, I think u got the wrong sleeper before LOL
Don't quote me on this, but when my car was in the shop they had a car that went Pitts for tuning and I remember it costing around the $1800 mark. So that's what I call exxy lol. What ecu u running again now? I know Mick at top rpm was telling me that he charges a flat rate of $500 to tune haltech ecu's. Whether it takes him 2 hours or 2 days. but I know your not running a haltech. When I picked my car up he apologized to me that he felt the cold start was not very good, but I can tell u that my cold start is absolutely perfect, likecstandard. so I think the bloke is quite pedantic about making everything 100% and I believe that's the way it should be.

It's a shame here on the Goldy that there isn't really a great deal of tuners to choose from. Let alone good tuners.

Confused APC's prices must have gone up Smiley. My last car had a haltech intalled and tuned and it wasn't anywhere near that price Nervous

You don't need a full stand alone for the mods your talking about..

I believe Nick just has a mines ecu. so it's not technically a "mapping" dyno tune he's on about, but simply a going over the engine settings and getting it to work as it should.

APC was quite expensive when my old man had his Mitsubishi GTO with haltech E11v2 tuned there a few years ago. Tune was pretty good but we had a few problems with them. Especially when it came to the end and they wanted to charge like 2 grand more than what they quoted and we found later that some of the work wasn't even done. But u hear mostly good things from other ppl that go there. But who in there own right would pay 4 and a half grand for that!!

Wow. That's a shock to me. Certainly can't say the same for my car. This was only a couple of months ago too wasn't it nick? Probably proves once again that u take the car to the best tuner for ur computer.

Well at least I'm not alone in thinking it was through the roof with the price, might have to try top rpm even if it is a bit of a drive from me because I'm also looking at getting a intercooler fitted. What would you consider as a ball park figure like 1000 drive in drive out ?
