PostPosted: Tue May 18, 2010 8:20 pm    Post subject: upper control arm Reply with quote

I have had a nosie in the left hand front wheel section of car for a while and got a suspension check from pedders the other day and they couldn't diagnose exactly what was wrong. They said could be the arm or maybe the valving on the shock. the sound is a metal on metal kind of knock over bumps intermittent. I had the upper control arm repaired by cheapa auto spares but am going to buy a new one from america to see if this eliminates the noise. My question is which one of these do I want/need

They all look the same too me but there is a price difference between all 3. has anyone bought one before from this site, if so which one did you get?

I have a 96 aristo

The cheaper ones are the aftermarket brand which are still bloody good quality, compared to the other arm.

Bought a few wheel bearings (NSK) off this mob and they were identical to the exsisting bearings in the hub.

Dont forget to add $50 for shipping

Hey all,

Newbie regarding this noise you were/are still hearing, dd you diagnose what it was coming from?
I only ask due to my aristo making the same noises over bumps etc.. And I must say Aussie roads are not the greatest and is starting to irritate me!

I only just installed new control arms and let me tell you the ones that come out were stuffed. The front end feels so much different now. I think the noise has gone but it was always intermittent so will give it a few more days as they haven't been in for long. Cost me like 250 delivered for both front arms.

$250 seems not too bad, be sure to fill me in on how it works out for you. My noises are more so coming from the rear however. When you say ur noise was intermediate, how intermediate are we talking about? My noises are not over every bump just the harsh ones..

Normally over big bumps and got progressively worse. When my car arrived though one arm was stuffed and I got it repaired so i could get the car on the road as I couldn't wait a month for parts to get here. Sounds similar and mine was only ever in one side and at the front. Could alwayd take it to a suspension place to get a check. Pedders does them for free but be careful what you do with what they find

Since you mentioned it I was actually waiting on a guy from where I work, he ha a side business he's been running for a few years slowly growing. He speacilisers In suspension, ball joints, bushes etc
Seems like he is always too busy to check my car over, so I may put it into peddars for a check over and see what the result is I guess.. Thinking next Friday! RDO gotta love em right Razz
