Well on the way home today got side swiped on the way home apparently bmw's need two lanes when taking corners and I just happened to be inthe second one. Luckily not going to fast doesn't look like too much damage.

What to do now, she asked me to get a quote and if it is under 500 she will just pay cash. I doubt pearl white will be under 500 to repair.

Questions do I need to tell my insurance company do I get to select the repairer and will she pay for a rental car while mine gets fixed?

Not really sure where to go with this, now to try and find a good panel shop in brisbane so any recommendations on that would be good too.

Give your insurance company her details and let them deal with her that's why you have insurance.

So even with her at fault my insurance will deal with it all and then recoup money from her? This sounds good

Most panel Beaters nowadays work on $500 a panel thats to fix respray and blend in the paint to the rest of the car. so if more than one panel has damage thats about what its gonna cost. So don't screw yaself over get the insurance company involved and claim for a Not at Fault claim. The Insurance company will chase her up thats what you pay them for.

best to give your insurance company the info and do it asap or the other party can totally fuck you over. i know of a case where an asian lady said she would pay. details were exchanged and then she didnt answer her phone for a few weeks. when the other party went to the address that was on the asians d/l that lady was there alright but her car didnt even have a scratch to be found. guy had no proof and no grounds to stand on either.

how it will work is you put a claim through, your insurance pay's for everything, then they send the bill to the other party. so in case they dont have insurance you dont have to worry coz its up to your insurance company to chase after them.

Calling the cops is only required if the damage is above $5k or someone was injured.

Where are you located? Some states have an online form which you can fill in to get a police report number..

Edit: Fill this in and take it to your nearest police station..

I have pics of damage to my car but only got front of her car so I had a pic of the rego plate and what the car looked like. I figured cops only need to be called if couldn't drive away or significant damage occured also.

Insurance company will be able to advise whether i need to get a police report I guess, wish someone pulled up so I had a witness.

From my research I have heard that you can claim a rental back, shannons didn't want a bar of it though so you have to chase this up yourself. You ring the at fault parties insurer and if there is a claim number you just send them the receipt for the rental car then they check that your car was in the shpo for that time and then they pay. Will let you know if I get money back or not car goes in for repair in 2 weeks. Am hoping they do a good job, he seemed confident he could match pearl white

it's worth a shot, I forgot to mention that i didn't have insurance but not at fault so I was at their mercy and didn't want to push my luck with trying get a rental out of them, the panel shop advised me my chances were zero to none and just let it go, they paid out in the end, 3 months later, but was a very good pay out Cool
