So what car clubs are people in? I got thinking about it when I was thinking of insurance options, because I'm with Shannons with my current car (aw11) and have a car club membership named and they give you a better deal.

So

What club options are there?
toymods?
nissan silvia (the TTuned subsection - for toyotas)?
....

I'm only with one competition club these days, the ARDC - Australian Racing Drivers Club - but that will probably lapse at the end of this year as I have retired from competition.

But I am also a member of TOYMODS car club.

Cheers,

Peter

Does Shannon's look for CAMS affiliation? In which case, the answer to the above question is NO Nervous

Cheers,

Peter

Don't think shannons look for cams affiliation, as i have had insurance through Shannons, and wasn't a member of car clubs with cams affiliation.

but i had done several track events where i purchased Day licences.

so no, i am not a member of any legitimate clubs.

However ... forums ... sheesh where do i start Very Happy there is probably about 20-25 forums i am a member of car based ... and about 6 i frequent regularly, including one I am a moderator of.

No. They just want to make sure you are 'in' to cars - aka an 'enthusiasts'. They are of the belief (true too) that people who are in to cars take good care of them, and are better risks than some other groups, like young girls who drive Festivas.

If you have an active CAMS license, you can get a discount with Shannons on your premium.

Car club memberships are not a neccessity but, as stated, do help towards showing your "enthusiasm" for motoring Very Happy

5% discount for being a member of a club with a CAMS affiliation. They will ask for the clubs number.

There is no discount for being in a non affiliated club AFAIK, but it will help if you are say under 25 and have an import/turbo, as to weather they will insure you at all. I didnt need to prove my membership at that time.
