Hey fellas, emailed MAKO in NSW about custom swaybars.

He needs a stock swaybar to work with and estimates it to be under $300each depending on how many orders he gets.

Can anyone drop one off in Belrose West?

And how many would be interested if he can do them for a good price?

cheers

Isn't that the same price as the Selby bars?

why would you want adjustable bars? i guarantee you'll set them once, maybe twice and never again.

the advantage of adjustability is not so you can change it every week. Its so you can set them how you want them. Just like coilovers, adjustabe shocks, even adjustable steering columns and seats...

sure i can understand that to a point, but the majority of people won't ever use the car in such a way to be able to make any useable changes. coilovers are generally only adjusted for ride height and shocks are in the same catergory as the swaybars. as for seats and steering columns, well i tend to sit in the same postion every time i drive.
i'm not saying that adjustable sway bars are useless, just that i wouldn't pay anymore for them as the adjustability wouldn't be used. if for some odd reason you plan on using the car for track work then definately grab them. most people will get the desired effect from a set they can bolt in a forget about.

You're missing the point Nick.

It comes down to driving style and getting the car to do what you want it to.

yep, and it can also help suit cars with different suspension bits and pieces in them. Eg what is a good swaybar setting for an Aristo with stock srings and shocks, may make one with 12/7kg springs and coilovers an understeery pig.

Or a car with stock 225/55 R16 tyres all round vs one with 235/40R18 and 275/35 R18 rears. The bigger rear tyres may respond well to slightly harder rear bar settings.

Or a stock power car vs one with 250rwkw. the more powerful one may want less rear bar to balance the handling under power.

Having a few different settings to play around with is a very good thing.

Selby bars are adjustable rear. As for front, the way it mounts to the car means it'll be pretty fucking hard to make an adjustable one.

Also............. people keep stock springs and shocks, other than to get off defect?

I only mentioned rear bar adjustments...

Whether anyone is using stock springs or not doesn't change the point. HSD TT coilovers use 13/7kg, Tein Flex 12/7kg, Tein CST 7/5kg, HKS LS 9/7kg etc etc are all different front to rear spring ratios. RSR lowered coils, Bilstein lowered coils are going to be different as well.

i think theres more than one point being missed.
i'm not trying to dismiss the usefulness of an adjustable bar. i am simply trying to point out that i you don't use your car as a circuit car, for track days etc that there is minimal gain from having the adjustability.
if you want a race car for the street then yes, by all means go for the adjustable bar. i can't see the average aristo owner wanting that. if you do then great use the adjustable one.
don't take this as me trying to argue and tell anyone they are wrong, i'm simply trying to save someone money who wouldn't use it the it's potential, just like i wouldn't.

My only point was, why bother making another set of custom bars, when there's already a set available? One that doesn't need a set of stock ones to be cut up, and all the postage fuck around that involves. Same price, more hassle.
