Most of you are probably across the issues that we have had with the box in the car but I will go over it again as briefly as I can.
We purchased a box and converter through Titan Motorsports to go cope with approximately 500rwhp. When it arrived and was fitted the 3500 RPM stall was only a 2500 RPM stall and the box would not up shift without hitting the limiter for a few seconds until the boost dropped to almost nothing. Obviously the box didn't last long (around 4 days and only about 5-6 full throttle runs).
We went back to Titan with this and at first got nothing from them apart from pathetic lines like, thats how it's meant to be and I doubt the box has failed. Finally after many emails they admitted fault and took both back for repair. After weeks of them having them they sent me a different box back missing all the sensors and 3 bolts from the extension housing. I had sent it back fully sealed and strapped down in a box. I recieved it strapped down on a open pallet with every possible port open to the elements. When I confronted them about this they didn't bat an eyelid at the possible contamination issue and said they would send me replacement sensors. That was at least 6 weeks ago and still no sensors.
I had a spare box in the shed so we robbed the sensors from that and fitted the converter and box. On first drive the converter seemed to be good, and still is at the moment, and the tranny ok, although it wasn't driven too hard, but still kissing the limiter with a rather soft shift. the car was then parked up for 2 weeks while Tom was away and then brought out again for the drags.
3 passes were done and all of them let down horribly by the transmission once again hitting the limiter and taking 1-2 seconds to up shift.
Once again I went back to Titan telling them straight out that I would not be sending the transmission back to them as it cost me $880 last time for no real gain, and they wouldn't even give me an idea where to start to diagnose the problem. They were completely uninterested in our issues.
I have since fixed the box myself with the help of Michael from MV Automatics over the phone (a big pat on the back for him as he had no reason to help me really but was great to deal with). I won't be telling you what I did to repair the box as I don't want Titan to know. They didn't help me so I won't help them. Just to be clear though it was an internal fault which appears to be all to common their boxes. I am sending the replaced sections of the box to MV's to be further repaired. If you have a similar issue and want to know what I did, PM me and I'll fill you in.
I have been talking to many people in the Toyota tuning circles who have had the exact problems with this company that I have had. One even saying that Titan don't care because their name and marketing sell the boxes for them, not the quailty. He was a big Titan customer and regularly meets with them at big drag events. Take what you will from that.
Now the reason for the most long winded post I have ever written, is to warn you all of this and hopefully seeing as the new owner is from the Supra circles, it will be passed on there. I will never buy from them again. Their customer service is pathetic. It has cost us way too much money for a sub-standard product.
This may be taken down by the mods for slamming a business name and if it is, so be it. It just needed to be said.

I shant be touching it, and from me, big ups to MV Auto Smile When building my stage 2 box, they even went and borrowed a dyno, and fixed some other shit on my car. If it's a built auto you want, MV ftw.

Glad MVs helped you out and both companies have had there fair amount off issues.

Without being the harbinger of doom what if the MV patch up packs it in Nervous

not sure mate, but i do know that titan doesn't build the transmissions themselves and the mob that does it for them also builds them for other companies. the converter didn't even come in a titan box the second time around.

Titan do this with ALOT of stuff, their name alone sells the stuff.

Im glad that this never happened to me. I was literally days from ordering a Titan Trans till i seen your dramas. Its good to see that your still continuing with the build. And excellent work from Mike too. If it was me, i probably would have sold my car. Shit like that pisses me off. You spend money on a good product that is rubbish. Yes, trial and error is part of the modifying game, but to have no product support is sad.

good thing you didn't do it mate. to have two differnet tranny's do the same thing, it seems to me that it's just they way they build them. surely we're not the only people to have this issue. i really wanted to make this known as much as possible, although this is the only forum i'm on, so titan might read or hear of it and change what they do. i'm not trying to stop people from using them, i want them to realise their error. hopefully those of you who are on other forums might repost this also.
it wouldn't of been so bad if they had of given me the after sales support like you said. it just so wrong that the way i got it was from a bloke who didn't even get any of my money, yet. Mike was really taking a big chance by giving me the information like that, because there would be many people who would just take the fix and not give him any work.
the car is great now and should be even better once Mike has done his thing with the parts i have sent him. just needs a re tune with Tristan now and we'll be done.

Glad to hear that you got the gearbox sorted out and its nice to hear that MV's helped when the initial problem wasn't caused by them.

I have found Mike at MV's is always willing to help and answer any questions you throw at him when it comes to gearbox dramas.

Just a quick question, not trying to be negative at all, is there a reason you decided not to go with an MV Built Gearbox in the first place??

They have proven with Shane Chrichton's monster Cressida that they can build these boxes to handle a ridiculous amount of power. Me personally I like to buy from Aussie owned companies to support them than buying from overseas. Makes the economy stronger over here, lol.

I am sure all these dramas you have had now will be worth it once you finish your car and get this beast running like it should. Big Props to you for having patience and reaching your target.

Just chipping in here, probs the same reason a few of us hadn't gone with an mv box is a couple of issues some other members had with their mv boxes. And unfortunately to say that it's proven by that cressy is the same as saying that Titan have supra's in the 9's...

I personally would either drive my car to MVs and give them the car to drive before and build the box to suit, install and test after. Greenys had his box for how long now? With no issues. I think the problem alot of people are having is having to communicate the way they have to, to get a box they require for the car they're discribing... There's soo many variables and not everyones car is the same. Like me saying my car has a big single making 350rwkw. Depending on how I feel I can describe it as making heaps of power up top, but I'm only hitting boost at 4000-4500... So the way it hits is different to what people might understand.

If I was to go an MV box I'd def head over... If I got a glide built here id give them the car to build it for.

I understand what your saying thanks for the reply. Did not know there have been problems with other members MV Boxes. I would still prefer to take the risk on a box built in oz land by MV's [easier to contact and delivery/freight costs a lot cheaper] than taking the risk of buying a built box from overseas and if somethings wrong having to pay the delivery/freight costs.

I will be getting my MV Built Box some time later this year when the single goes on. I know there is a possibility something might be wrong but at least I know I can jump on the phone to Mike at MV's explain the problem and get it sent and sorted a lot easier than someone overseas.

Been about 4-5 major issues with MV boxes on here hence some peoples unwillingness to commit to there boxes.

Ive personally seen the major issue that one former owner had gone thru numerous times, not a good advertisement for there product and it was twice on there super hp box setup which is full manualized stage 3.

Chap on here now recently is going thru issues now & he's already posted in this thread Wink

Im sure MVs know there stuff and being OZ based is good for most.

Go manual problem solved Razz

the fatc that mike is doing what he can to help me is the reason why i went mv's no one in perth really knows how to build them.. paul keas works out of allfast sometimes and he told me to go glide or nissan r.e type auto. ive got issues with mine but like i said mike is willing to help out. my friend has an mv box in her supra and never had an issue.

From the top of my head, discussions had taken place with Titan, and research indicated they made a transmission that not only handled big power, but shifted smooth Confused Some say that your trans wont handle power if you cant feel it shift, and dont understand how Titan makes a smooth trans.

MV Autos Transmissions are excellent bits of gear, but we never would have know what a Titan Trans would be like, unless someone had the balls (and dollars Very Happy ) to buy one. I think this is more the case of a project that consists of quality parts, used to enhance the development of the Aristo, and unfortunatly a respected tuner hasnt delivered with aftersales support or quality.
