Having just put on Kumho 36's on the rear, and to find out my fronts are scrubbed out on the inside they too need replacing.
Kumho 36 = needs temp in them and sub par wet weather trackion.. The aristos TRC goes into overdrive in the wet
Has anyone got these on the pointy end of their barge ? Do they turn the car in the wet or is it an understeering nightmare.
I was thinking the Federal 595 RS-R may be better for the fronts, as they can be flipped to extend tyre life, but the tyre joint has said they arn't as good in the wet as the 36's ????
This thing is going through tyres at a stupid rate.

KU31 up front, KU36 on rear.
Yes she gets slidey when wet, but I've always been impressed with the 31's for sheer all-roundedness. Perfect tire for upfront for street driving IMO.
And cheap too. If you're burning tyres you don't wanna be sticking anything too exxy on there.
What sort of camber are you running to have such horrible wear rates? _________________

Camber on front ?? but my caster bushes are brocken so at a guess this is what caused the fronts to scrub out..
No one running the Federal 595 RS-R ??
Not too keen on the KU31's really don't see the point of putting a sticky tyre on the back and a average tyre on the front..
Would have thought they give out when running hard through the twisties...

These cars are tail happy as it is mate.. really if you're putting stickIER tyres on the back than the front, you're "balancing it out" more than anything. To me it's a perfect balance.
But then, up to you. Oversteer is sometimes easier to correct than understeer, and if you're running twisties all the time, it is perhaps safer.. understeer can send you off a cliff, oversteer more likely will send you into the wall.
So up to you. I know of no-one running 595 RS-R's so can't comment on their performance. _________________

Get your suspension sorted and a wheel alignment. Then assess understeer/oversteer.
With worn suspension these cars tend to lift off oversteer and power understeer, once you replace bushes you'll be suprised how much rear traction and front end grip you regain.
I recommend using the same tyres all around, let your suspension do the balancing.
Cool thanks for those, def getting them now, they don't bulge like I imagined.
M/T's are the shizz, they look so tuff. Everybody comments on how mean my car looks with the track rims and M/T's bulging on 14psi.
The centre caps are growing on me.
Can go alot wider then 285s if you so wish i know of people running stupid widths on Supra rims, 285 is no worse then the 275 MTs.
MTs are tuff remember driving behind JaYvee when he had them on OMG theyre presence personified !
I'll win you over yet FWIW my 275s are up for grabs have well over 90% probally lucky to do 500kms & only went to the 285s because they were cheap and couldnt resist.
275s were bought and only used for Powercruise no burnouts only track work. _________________

Thats them, god theyre PHAT !!!!! Love the sidewall bulge better then dished rims anyday
NO worries to be fair not much of a difference i could see with the 275s over the 285s anyway, but if you dont want to pay top dollar these will be going cheap or they'll just sit in my shed _________________

I ran 14psi on my last outing but was yet to work out what is best for my setup. With all new suspension I'll have to play with it again.
Edit: BTW I'm switching to my M/T 255/50r16's when I go for a 10sec slip, most of the big boys use those instead of the bigger 17's. The taller side wall provides better grip at launch.
