well i was lucky enough for my aristo to do blow its headgasket yesterday... Bawling

currently she is sitting in the workshop, no idea yet if the damage extends any further...

The real kicker is I had been planning to sell her for the past month!

so my question is, what do you guys think is the most economical way to go about it? (i will be changing cars regardless)

sell her as is, and cut my losses?

part her out? (she has a few goodies on her)

rebuild the engine and sell repaired?

Car is:

1992 Aristo - gun metal grey type colour
80,000kms
the good stuff:

GReddy spec LS intercooler
GReddy Profec B spec-II EBC
SAFC II piggyback comp
BLITZ ECU
Genuine BBS LM's (18x8 +35, 18x9 +35)
MV Autos 1.0 shift kit
HID headlights
catback exhaust (WIN corporation)
Autometer boost gauge
reco'd radiator with custom brass top tank

thats what comes to mind worth noting + if i decided to part out the interior is quite mint

cheers

Eddie

That fuckin sux bigtime, is anytime a goodtime for a motor to let go Sad

Id source another 2J and throw that in..IMHO its cost effective / car will be on the road with a day or two and you can part out the dud engine and get close to your money back as 2Js are going cheap nowadays.

Tidy mods on the car but if you wreck you'll be stuck with alot of shit and again parts are getting harder to move on ecspecially stock parts. Unless someones wants the shell it'll be scrap metal.

Id go with sourcing another 2J....

ps: what were you hoping to get for the car ?

Seen them for around 1.5k - 2k mark but grab a frontcut / halfcut as theyre a fraction more but there's some coin on the cuts themselves. ie: BMC / headlights / radiator / reo bar / front bumper / auto bunky tranny / ecu / loom / washer bottle / etc, etc.

fix the engine. a blown head gasket won't condem the engine. $250 gets you a full engine gasket kit.

I don't think there is much to be made from wrecking a busted engine'd car. Fix it, its not as much as you may think.

Even if you sell the good bits you will still he stuck with a heap of worthless parts.

You guys havent a clue so much dollars on there it aint funny.....

Over $1000+ in parts easily parting out. Im just thinking with Eddie not doing the work himself with the headgasket he'll be reamed hard by mechanic ie: $1000+.

Horses for courses either rebuild or another 2J, i know what id choose Very Happy

Unless Eddie goes with another donk couldnt you guys local to him help him out whip out the old bunky and install the newbie only a days work if that.
