recived a txt from a malay phone number to email him if the car is still for sale.
emailed him today and said yeah it is, got this in return:
Hello,
Thanks for the swift reply, What is your asking price and i want you to get back to me with more pictures of the engine and the dashboard because i am presently offshore and i am unable to inspect the car and make phone calls, i am in Malaysia and i will be using the vehicle here in Malaysia. I will be handling the pick up of this merchandise through a legitimate shipping agent that has their headquarter situated in Malaysia . Please note that i will not be needing the vehicle registration because it will be invalid over here so please remove the registration. The vehicle will be picked up after you receive the full payment, so i really need to know the mode of payment because i need this vehicle urgently.
Hope to read from you asap.
i emailed back saying ... sure - this much - all good dont mind about rego once i have monies its your call,
sooooo.... if i give him my bsb n account# if it comes down to it .... there is no way i can get raped from that is there?
n if i have the monies in my account ... its really no longer my problem, if im de-registering it i dotn need transfer papers ??? _________________

I would be calling scam due to this fact alone - "# Import duty into Malaysia is generally around 200-300% of car value for private individuals. "
Check the regulations for importing a car into malaysia and make a decision..
Edit: Definite Scam - They could at least select a country that allows imports of cars over 5 years old..
Quote:
Importing a motor vehicle into Malaysia is possible. However the owner must be in the country and apply personally with the Ministry of Trade and Industry for an import permit. The following documents are needed: ownership of vehicle certificate, insurance certificate used in country of origin and proof of purchase or invoice. Do not ship until import permit is approved.
1. All motor vehicles (new or used) are subject to Customs duties, are highly taxed and require an Import Permit (AP)
2. The AP must be granted before the vehicle is shipped
3. Shipper or owner of motor vehicle are advised to apply the AP prior to importing and application can only be done by its owner from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI)
4. Import duty is high from 100% to 300% depending on capacity of car.
5. Motor vehicles over five years old are prohibited
hmm i just emailed with your info to see what the fk, i mean hey ... if he gives me monies for my car ...everything else is his call!

I will be expecting the pictures from you, I am pleased with your price and i have also checked the description on the site which i am also pleased with. I tried to get this car here in Malaysia, but most of the ones I got either have one huge mechanical fault or the other and some have even had accidents in the past while some are extremely exorbitant. However, the easiest way we can conclude this transaction is via PayPal and they will also be organizing the pick up agent and they will notify you about this once the payment has been made, I have been duped via check and bank transfer before and i am unable to deliver cash, that is why i selected PayPal (www.paypal.com ) as a mode of payment because PayPal is the best online payment,so both of us could be on the safer side, awaiting your decision because i really need to pursue this buy sincerely and i will be expecting you to get back to me with your PayPal email address and your full name for making the payment. PayPal would contact you about the pick up details after the payment has been done.

Scam 100%. I had similar emails regarding to some rims i posted on firesport. this was one of the email;
"ok no problem, i will be offering $1,900 for this. I am ready to buying it now for my Rev.Father and i am at sea at the moment as i am an oceanographer and due to the nature of my work, phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert and send you an email regarding it. I really want this to be a surprise for my Rev.Father so i wont let him know anything about it until it gets delivered to him. i will be paying you with my bank account, I insisted on bank because i only have access to my bank account online and also paypal, but i can pay you from my bank account, as i have my bank a/c access online. If my mode of payment is acceptable just send me your bank information,(Bank Details) so i can pay in right away. Make sure you get back to me so that i can make the payment. I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after payments has been made, so no shipping included. And if you dont have bank account i can pay you via paypal account, it is very easy to set up, go to www.paypal.com.au and get it set up, after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you use for registration with paypal so as to put the money through. Pick up agent will come for the pick up as soon as i have made the payments, i would have loved to talk to you on phone but due to the nature of my work, our phone is down right now due to bad weather, we can only communicate with our base for now."

Let them know that they will need to pay a fee to be able to cancel your registration - Make it say $200 and then send them a paypal invoice and request that they pay it before the transaction can go any further..

i'm dealing with one at the moment that used a wanted to buy ad from this site to contact me. pretty useless though as it was about the failed accumulators that i was looking for people to donate and he was trying to sell them to me for 170 euro.
even after i called him on the scam he still kept trying. i really have no idea how people fall for these scams.

I had a similar one that responded to a WTB ad for some wheel nuts offering to sell me them from Italy. Pass!
