PostPosted: Mon Jun 28, 2010 8:34 pm    Post subject: different types of aristo ECU connectors? Reply with quote

After searching 2 hrs....I must ask-

Are there different typesof ECU/Connectors?

I have one complete aristo 2jzgte front cut and one 2jzgte engine which is supposedly jzs147.

My present goal is to run the unknown engine,it has a near complete loom with 2 large yellow connectors with the bolt in between.

The complete front cut has an almost identical pair of ECU connectors except one is black, one is yellow [identical to the 2 yellow plugs on the unknown engine] The black plug is a different fit to the yellow.

I searched ECU,engine numbers,ECU sales. Search on this site doesnt allow a topic search, too much info too generalised.

Now trying a human to humans search. Any ideas guys/gals?

All JZS147's have the same ECU connectors..

We need pics of the connectors to give you any real answer?

i was always under the impression that all the JZ engines shared a common connector for the ECU

Thanks for replies confirming only one ECU/connector style for Aristo.

I guess its not Aristo....

The cam cover on engine has 2JZGTE above inlet cam wheel just in front of oil cap, aristo cam cover does not have anything in this position.

Once i work out what it is I can look for an ecu.

Not many options - the 2JZ-GTE only came in the JZA80 Supra, the ZJS147 and the JZS161. As far as I know, all JZS161's are VVTI.

I wouldn't exactly take that as a sign of what it is from.

My cam cover has 2JZGTE on it.

Even the s1 and s2 cam covers are slightly different. Then ppl can put after market covers on.

PostPosted: Tue Jun 29, 2010 7:29 pm    Post subject: aristo ECUs Reply with quote

yeah clutching at straws.....

I ran a number off the ignitor as it was different but also inconclusive

My main search has been for ID via engine number but struck out there too.

I will go to supraforums and look at pics of ECUs for sale, looking for two yellows into ECU both same as the yellow one on aristo

In the end i need an ECU that fits.cant be too hard! like the man said, there arent many options. Its auto.

Cheers.Pete.

My stock ECU has 3 plugs, all 40 pin, all identical except two are joined with the bolt in the middle?

Recently replaced with a Blitz unit and no issues whatsoever.

I find it hard to believe that there are 2 different types of plugs given that people have been swapping these out from one Aristo to the next without any issues until now.

I think you should post photos.

Also: The sticker on the top of the ECU lists the types of connectors on it and shape - 40P-40P - 40P

Pictures!

Yeah I don't think anyone's saying you're an idiot, but it sure is strange considering people have been fiddling with these ECU's, plugging in aftermarkets no dramas, swapping merrily for almost three years now and this is the first we've heard of a different plug.

To add fuel to the fire,
The eManage piggybacks have an optional "T-15" connector that wire inline between this connector and the ECU, and there is a single "T15" option to fit both the Aristo and the Supra.
Meaning the boys at GReddy only believe there to be a single connector as well.

Hey its all good fun, been an idiot before and im sure i can have another crack at it before im through but-

Defintely have an aristo front cut that has 2 different main ECU connectors with ECU bolt in between and have the matching ECU

Its the motor not in a front cut that had me asking questions as it wouldnt fit my aristo ecu because it has 2 identical plugs either side.

From what you guys are saying its the norm to have 2 identical plugs on aristo?

I have pics just an idiot with getting them on here.Anyone wanna host them?
