Hi all,
ive been looking trough like 8 pages of search results and 3 pages of How-to and tutorials, but couldnt find it.
Thanks in advance.
So yesterday as i was driving the risto rahter hard, i took a left hander a tad too hot and (grrrrrr fuck me) lifted my foot off the throttle like a fucking dumbass. So effectively, instead of doing a nice, controlled slide, i fucking initiated a potential fullspin situation on a secondary road with ditches and stuff
Was riding about 120 kph and it started kicking left and right, so i reapplied "very slight" throttle an proceeded to absorb the weight of the tail kicking with the steering. Car kicked about 5 times left and right before i managed to straighten her out.
Now, my front, upper dash speaker had always produced some sort of "schrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" noise and then it got worst.
It now plays at its max when the radio is open, even if nothing plays on it.
My bet is that it its getting some electrical noise from something else in the dash, it was already displaying this sort of issue.
So my fix will be to disconnect the little fucker and cap the wires.
So does anyone knows how to remove the upper dash speaker or maybe the upper dash trim ?

The one in the middle of the car? Above the clock/climate control?
Just pry the cover upwards with a flathead.. or remove the climate vents and push it up from underneath.
After you pull the vents you can remove the plug for the speaker.
Or there is like 3-4 screws holding it in.
Undo them, and combined with a lot of twisting around you can get it to come out the hole out the top. _________________

Well you're right again. That one was an eye opener for me.
Now to get back on my issue, I did pull out the entire center stack, removed the top speaker, and tested...
It played for like 5 min with "scrrrrrr" and also the volume was unusually dim even though i had the volume at max and then stopped.
I checked the amp in the boot, unplugged/replugged, and still nothing.
Im starting to think my trunk amp is busted, as my trunk has always been a bit... hmmm.... "humid" (just like my 85 supra).
There's actually rust on top of the amp.
I guess ill have to find myself a 2nd hand amp or something.
The best thing is to piss the standard amp off asap. Once I had an aftermarket head unit installed I tried using the factory amp. Then tried running speaker wires from the new headunit back to where the amp is and joining them to the speaker wires at the amp (taking the amp out the circuit).
Even tho you are only using 4 speakers and no amp it goes waaay louder and is a lot clearer.
Just because it's an amp doesn't mean it's any good. It's 14 years old....
