Hey guys!
To avoid the flaming, I've been searching through different websites and different forums to try and fish out as much info as i possible could about the Toyota Aristo however i still need a few more questions answered. I saw one the other day go past my work, (I work on a main street) and i couldnt help but notice this car.
Anyway, long story short, found out that they run with a 2jz and my jaw hit the floor. I currently own a Holden VT Wagon with a basic stock 6 in it but been looking to upgrade to something that has good power and well, you cant go wrong with a 2jz .
But im looking in the series 1, probably the closer to 1997 the better.
The few questions i do have though are :
I plan to do a manual conversion to a R154, How much roughly? and Positive/Negatives?
I'm also considering changing it up to a single to try and get bigger power, True/False? and if true, how much more power am i looking at?

I suggest you start reading pretty much every thread on this site There's not much about these cars that hasn't been answered here. Short story - manual conversions are good but not the easiest car to do it, price depends on how well you can swing a spanner. Big single tubos are even better. See the sticky in Performance for the numbers some people are/were pulling. It's not a case of how much power, it's a case of how much money do you want to spend. You could build a 1000hp Aristo if you wanted to (doooo iiiiit)

Not trying to be a smart arse or anything, but if you have to ask these questions I hope you have deep pockets as you sound like you'll be paying someone to do it. Whatever you paid for the car, double that and add 25% if this is the case.
These questions are actually only a recap on what i already know, Im just double checking the facts with people who drove the cars instead of assuming my way through it. I dont simply want to make a small time car with an exhaust, springs and wheels, i've already got one of those
As for costs, I'll only be paying for parts and my pockets arent deep, but thier not shallow either.
At this point in time im looking to do a proper project with a good car to work on, Unfortunately im limited on how much it can really stand out as im still on my P's but my brothers a mechanic, so that's free labour but we have only HEARD what do with a 2jz, never actually helped any friends with thiers, So im just checking the basics, before i start asking the tougher questions haha
At the moment it seems 550 injectors, bigger single turbo, cooler, exhaust, a tune and an exhaust will be the way to go for beginning power before i start talking BIG psi on the stocker parts of the block.
As i said, if i come out 20 grand under with only 200 kw's, i'll be annoyed to say the least haha _________________

You will come out better by spending sub $20k on an already built aristo. Hell there is a 11.2sec one for sale for $17k. _________________

so none of that is needed set me back about 2k _________________

As said, you can make a fair bit of power very quickly with these things.
Basically BPU you're looking at FMIC, exhaust, boost controller and some kind of AFC/piggyback ECU to tune it up a bit and you should be well over 200kw if not 250
Next 'stage' up you're looking at a big single turbo.. then it will depend on how big a turbo you get. You can get a lot of power thru stock injectors, or go up to aftermarket 550/600/800 if you need more.. then you'll prolli need a new fuel pump, and some more accessories.
That will cost you a few k, and you'll be good for enough power to make you smile for a while.
A lot of the guys on here are very interested in getting their car to 'ride' right as well.. as they're big and heavy they're not the best for doing any form of motorsport in (except the drags) in stock condition. Most people get coilies, and fix up their decaying suspension components like ball joints/tie rods/sway bars which can cost you a bit. Then inevitably things like power window regs will burn out, so you tend to spend a little bit over time keeping the car as comfortable as it is. After all, it was intended as a luxury car first, and a sports car second, so most of us enjoy the comfy lounge seats and the like _________________
