Personally, I would try to trace the burn spot on your ECU board and figure out what pin it is, then figure out why you're having 12V pumped down that line when it's supposed to be a pulsed earth or a small <1V signal from a sensor.
I'd agree with chappo - sounds like there's 12V running down a line that's not meant to have it. I would imagine it's something to do with the fuel gauge too. If you disconnect your ECU entirely can you turn the ignition to ON? And light up the fuel gauge? If so, do that with a multimeter stuck on the wire for it and see it jumps up to 12.. if so, you've got wires receiving IGN+ when they should be receiving some kind of ~1V signal. _________________

I would have thought the easiest option would be to find a pin out diagram for the ECU's plug and wack a multimeter on to the pins to see which one is killing it?
thanks for the offer woggin......appreciate it..!!!....what i have got from other clubs (limited)
but helpfull just the same...is as expected...wireing is a bitch & can take days to try and
work out..???....and remember i am hopeless with this type of process..!!!
RUSTY P...good thought there....have NOT..done this as yet...but will try it ..??
have got another ECU...(perfect one) well it is at the moment..???
biggest thing that gets me..????..is i removed the "buzzing" fuel pump relay today...
driving me nuts !!!!....only to here the "in tank pump" still working..?????
agree...to a point with others....if i would have known,i was going to have this much ..shit..!!!
with the wireing......i would have gone the extra $$$...and thrown a n/a 2j in there..!!!
and its not as if...i threw the loom all over the place, or cut the shit out of it..??
will endeavour to get a reliable, auto sparky out next week ,to hopefully ,find some answers ?
thanking u all for your input thus far................cheers nick...
